Doing better today. Still stiff and sore but the pain level is down to about a 3-1/2. Dealing with his and my insurance companies now. With all the rain, flooding, high winds, and tornadoes we've had lately, not including the earthquakes, the insurance claim handlers are swamped. Since I'm living and breathing, I'm not on the priority list.
My car dealer found me a 2014 Chrysler 200 Touring Convertible with less than 3,000 miles on it that he can get for me with gps installed for just under $20k. It is a nice looking car and much like the Sebring I was thinking about buying a few years ago. IMO, the insurance carrier for the driver that hit me should buy me that car and pay any expenses associated therewith. My 2008 Saturn was beautiful, in top condition, perfectly maintained, paid for, and had less than 60,000 miles. I was looking forward to at least 5 more years of service out of that car.
Found out that the police were out to arrest the guy that hit me for charges of violently attacking his family members with brass knuckles. He was attempting to evade arrest. He's been in jail since Sunday night. Doesn't look like his family or any friends want to bail him out even though his bail is only $2500.
My neck is going to give me problems for awhile. I was hit so hard my glasses were knocked off and there is a scrape across my forehead, on my chin, and on my left cheek. I was on the way home from the grocery store with, among other things, a bag full of yogurt and cream cheese. Those containers were sent flying around the interior of the car upon impact, and some of them were broken open and splashed yogurt all over the interior of the car.
The worst bruise is from the lap strap of the seat belt. Except for my neck and shoulders, though, the rest of my injuries seem to be healing quickly. The rash from the seatbelt and the air bag burns are almost gone.
A truck hit me years ago and messed up my car. It didn't do as much physical damage to me. Probably because the guy hit me on the passenger side of the car and shoved me sideways over a median. In this recent accident, the truck hit me head on and shoved me backwards about 30 feet over a concrete curb and embankment into a tree. My perspective on what it feels like to be hit by a truck has changed.
