So I got the surgeon's bill, another four grand but when I saw the doctor's office my surgeon worked for I was thrilled that now, perhaps, babysitting my teenaged years away for every high powered doctor, lawyer, and businessman in the city was finally going to pay off! I sent an E-mail to the accountant at the doctor's office and told her that if I did not qualify for MISP (and it looks iffy) then I'd be putting the bill on my credit card, I just wanted to reassure them. Oh and wink, wink nudge, nudge any discount for a nice girl that used to babysit Dr. So and So's daughter? So the nice accountant lady E-mailed me back and made me feel better by telling me a story about a patient that didn't have insurance for one lousy day and ended up needing emergency surgery so, you know, it happens. And oh, by the way, wink, wink nudge, nudge she'll talk to Dr. So and so and she's sure he'll want to work out a discount with me. Finally something has gone right in this mess.
