I am not sure why that is either. I remember the first time I was called this word, and I just didn't take offense to it. I couldn't. I was thinking, "Is that the best they could come up with?" "Laughing at me because I was new, and didn't understand the game"

Seriuosly. Now I could understand if I had been around a long time, made the mistake, then you can make fun of me.

Yes I am a n00b.

The reason it is/was spelled differently perhaps is because some gaming websites made it an offensive word to use. People had to get around the word filter, so noob became n00b.
