Ever since the political crisis of 2005-2006, during the events of the 2006 Thai coup d'état, in honor of the 60th anniversary of his accession to the throne and continuing until his 80th birthday celebration on 5 December 2007, Thailand has been a veritable sea of yellow as the people of Thailand show support for their king.
