Sources: Clippers land James Harden in blockbuster 76ers trade
The LA Clippers acquired 10-time All-Star guard James Harden in a blockbuster trade with the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday night, sources told ESPN. The 76ers sent Harden, P.J. Tucker and Filip Petrusev to the Clippers for Marcus Morris, Robert Covington, Nic Batum, KJ Martin, a 2028 unprotected first-round pick, two second-round picks, a 2029 pick swap and an additional first-round pick from the Oklahoma Thunder, sources told ESPN. The Clippers are sending a 2027 first-round pick swap to Oklahoma City, clearing the way for the Thunder to move a protected 2026 first-round pick to the 76ers, sources said. The Clippers are sending a 2024 and a 2029 second-round pick to the Sixers in the deal too, sources said. The Sixers will waive veteran guard Danny Green to create the roster space for the trade, sources said. The Clippers and 76ers began talking again on a trade over the weekend as it became increasingly untenable for Harden to be incorporated back into the Sixers' lineup, sources said. Harden has been one of the league's top players for the past decade, winning three scoring titles and the 2018 league MVP award. He led the league in assists last season.
Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid received an invitation to WrestleMania 40 from Triple H himself -- but only after picking up a hefty fine. The reigning MVP made what the league deemed as "obscene gestures" during the 76ers' 126-98 victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Sunday. As a result, he was fined $35,000 for making four crude chops that were inspired by the "Suck It" celebration from the iconic WWE group D-Generation X. The incident took place in the second quarter after Embiid cashed in on a full-court pass with a layup. He finished the game with 35 points, 15 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 blocks.
WrestleMania 40, the WWE's biggest event of the year, will take place during the first weekend of April at Lincoln Financial Field, the home of the Philadelphia Eagles. Unfortunately, the Sixers are scheduled for road games on consecutive nights against the Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs during that same weekend, so Embiid is unlikely to be in attendance. Triple H has been a part of the Sixers pregame festivities with Embiid in the past.
NBArank 2023: Player rankings for 2023-24, from 10-1
NBArank is back for its 13th season counting down the best players in the league. In fact, the race for the top spot was one of the tightest in the history of NBArank, as the gap between Nos. 2 and 3 was nearly 16 times larger than the one between Nos. 1 and 2.
No.10: PF Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers
Coming off a renaissance season with the Lakers, when he posted career bests in field goal percentage (56.3%) and rebounds per game (12.5) and was rewarded with a three-year, $186 million contract extension, Davis appears ready to dominate again.
No.9: SF LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers
The 38-year-old James continues to press the limits of his prime to unprecedented levels. He will become just the sixth player in league history to reach his 21st season and will be an important piece on a championship contender.
No.8: PG Shai Gilgous-Alexander, Oklahoma City
Gilgeous-Alexander and the Thunder took a small step forward last season as the team earned the No. 10 seed and took a game from the New Orleans Pelicans in the play-in tournament before losing to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Now, Gilgeous-Alexander and company hope to build on last season's success.
No.7: SF Kevin Durant, Phoenix
This will be the first full season in Phoenix for Durant, who was limited to eight regular-season games with the Suns before they lost to the eventual champion Nuggets in the playoffs.
No.6: SF Jayson Tatum, Boston
Last season was another impressive individual campaign for Tatum, who made a fourth straight All-Star team, a second straight All-NBA first team and won his first All-Star Game MVP award. But Boston's ongoing pursuit of a title again fell short after losing in seven games in the Eastern Conference finals to the Miami.
No.5: PG Stephen Curry, Golden State
Curry had one of the best offseasons in the NBA, second to maybe just Nikola Jokic, and he enters this season eyeing a deeper run in the playoffs and possibly his fifth ring. Last season, Curry averaged the third-most points in his career (29.1).
No.4: Luka Doncic, Dallas
Doncic, a first-team All-NBA selection the past four seasons, has a remarkable blend of a brilliant basketball mind, strength and skill. He's arguably the best offensive player in the game, but he enters the season with a lot to prove after the Mavs slipped to the lottery in 2022-23.

After finishing runner-up the prior two seasons, Embiid won his first NBA MVP award in 2022-23, as well as claiming a second straight scoring title. That, however, didn't lead to more playoff success. Philadelphia once again lost in the second round, falling in seven games to the Celtics.

Adam Silver - NBA will 'definitely' be back in Mexico City
Silver noted that despite the added scheduling difficulty, the league's commitment to having more games in Mexico remains strong. No other country outside the United States and Canada has hosted as many NBA games as Mexico. Twenty-three NBA teams have played at least once in Mexico City over the past 31 years.
