New Stargate Series

It got cancelled because SyFy cancelled everything all the time. Maybe it will have a chance on Prime.

ALSO, I also hope it doesn't suck!

I guess she is done "transforming every facet of the television business" and will move on to make something else completely shit!

The basic premise of Stargate (US military operates a secret mission to procure alien technology to defend the world from said aliens competently enough to eventually bring the rest of the world's governments in on it also secretly and develop space battlecruisers that make Earth the most advanced superpower in our galaxy by the end of the various series) is so tied to the zeitgeist of the 1990s that I feel like my brain will summarily reject any attempt at a continuation of the old shows.

I lost interest in the video pretty quickly, but it's occurring to me right now, I gotta wonder if the producers are actually even excited about coming back to this. Because their plan, as I understand it, was for the series to end at...Season 4?--When Daniel "died"--to move to making feature films. Kind of the Star Trek model. But it was a cash cow for MGM so they kept renewing it, which meant the producers had to come up with a way to stretch the concept for another season. IMO, they managed to pull this off for about 3 seasons, but when they finally defeat Apophis in the big battle over Antarctica, they'd completely run out of ideas.

So what will they do now? Just reboot the concept?

On a personal note, I loved the show. Have about 3 seasons on DVD. I'd like to have more of the seasons on DVD, but not enough to actually go out and buy them. And it has been picked up in reruns on a few networks from time to time. I'll catch it, channel surfing, go "Oooh! Stargate: SG-1!", and then watch about 5 minutes before getting bored and changing the channel. It's kind of TNG for me--loved it when it aired, but I just don't find it very rewatchable.

I've seen every episode of SG1 probably as many times as I've seen TNG thanks to Space channel's constant reruns back when I had cable. I'm betting they'll just gloss over as much of the time passage and connection to "our" real world as much as possible and have a new thing and move the action to another galaxy.

Every new enemy they came up with after the Goa'uld kinda sucked. The entire movie and 1st series were based on the Egyptian stuff, which was really cool. I hope, if they come up with a new enemy for the new series, it will be good. I didn't watch the entire video, so I don't even know if they talked about any details.

The only one I watched was Universe and only because people said it was a bit like BSG (it wasn't) and Robert Carlyle was in it.

I still fucking hate Teal'C becasue of that time @Yub spammed the board with an image of him saying "indeed" and will never give the original series a chance as a result.

I used to catch random episodes of SG1 back in the day when it was actually airing but never properly watched it through. I remedied that a few years back and loved it. I have never seen any of the spin-offs though.

Ive seen all three series, but not all episodes, some good episodes, and if you liked farscape the last two years of SG1 has two very familiar new cast members.

If you watch any episode, watch the groundhog day episode.

I watched all three shows too, but never got around to the SG1 TV movies, so I’m not really up to speed with how it ended (Universe, the last show, didn’t give a lot of context about what was happening on earth aside from boring people’s personal lives).

Anyway, in the video they say they’ll make it completely accessible to newbies, or people who don’t like scifi, while somehow respecting the canon. Heard that before, so we’ll see. But at least it’s not a total reboot. I’m looking forward to seeing what we get.

I have the original SG-1 series on DVD. All ten seasons. I'm missing seasons of Atlantis and to my own detriment I have not seen Universe despite being a huge Ming-Na fanboy.

With news of new Stargate, I am probably going to blow through all the Stargates again at some point. There's a couple things I gotta get through first...

I remember you met one of the actresses from Universe at a convention and she posed a certain way in refrence to something from the show, but I can't remember the details or even her name. But good luck to her!
