Dak Prescott receives exclusive franchise tag from Cowboys
In 2019, Prescott threw for a career-high 4,902 yards, the second-best total in the NFL and 30 touchdown passes. In his first three seasons, he had not thrown for more than 3,885 yards or 23 touchdown passes. Browns to add OT Jack Conklin, QB Case Keenum on 3-year deals
Selected with the eighth overall pick in the 2016 draft, Conklin teamed with left tackle Taylor Lewan to become bookend tackles for one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Keenum started four of the first five games of the season and then returned to the lineup after coach Jay Gruden was fired before Week 6. Keenum started eight games total before the Redskins turned to Haskins.

Sources: Cards get DeAndre Hopkins, ship RB David Johnson to Texans
Hopkins is coming off his third straight 1,000-yard receiving season and leaves one young quarterback on the rise, Deshaun Watson for an even younger one in Kyler Murray. Last season David Johnson had the lowest production of his career with 130 touches, 715 all-purpose yards, six total touchdowns, 345 rushing yards and 370 receiving yards.

Source: Giants, CB Bradberry agree to 3-year, $45M deal
Bradberry had a career-best three interceptions this past season and has eight in four years. He has started 60 of a potential 64 games during that span, missing four games due to injury after being thrust into a starting role as a rookie.

Sources: Colts trade 1st-round pick for 49ers DT DeForest Buckner
Buckner had been a stalwart for the Niners since they used the No. 7 pick to select him in the 2016 NFL draft. He missed just one game in his four seasons in San Francisco, playing the third-most snaps among defensive lineman in the past four seasons and recording 28.5 regular-season sacks.

Byron Jones' deal with Dolphins makes him NFL's highest-paid cornerback
He started 11 games at cornerback or safety as a rookie. In 2016 and 2017, Jones started every game at safety. After returning to cornerback in 2018, he had a career-best 15 pass deflections to go along with 76 tackles.

Ravens reach 3-year, $30M deal with DL Michael Brockers, source says
Brockers, who turned 29 in December, has proven his versatility by playing in both a 4-3 and 3-4 scheme. He started all 16 games in 2019, making 63 tackles with 3 sacks. In eight seasons, he has 344 tackles, 23 sacks, 52 quarterback hits and 2 forced fumbles.

Panthers add DL Stephen Weatherly; S Juston Burris, source says
Weatherly, 25, is the type of player the Panthers are looking for as they rebuild their entire roster under new coach Matt Rhule in that he's a young, up-and-comer who doesn't come with a high price tag. Burris fills a need and comes at a low price tag. His signing probably means the Panthers will move on from safety Tre Boston, also a free agent.

Ex-Pats LB Kyle Van Noy joining Dolphins on 4-year, $51M deal, source says
In three-and-a-half seasons, Van Noy played in 51 regular-season games and totaled 250 tackles, with 16.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles (4 recoveries), 2 interceptions and 3 defensive touchdowns. He also appeared in 10 playoff games, adding 46 tackles with 5.5 sacks and 4 forced fumbles.

Source: Giants land ex-Packers LB Blake Martinez on 3-year deal
Martinez, 26, played the second part of the 2019 season with a broken bone in his hand. He ended up with three sacks, five tackles for loss, a forced fumble and an interception in 2019, but the Packers gave every indication that they were looking to move on. Overall, in four seasons, he has 512 tackles (332 solo), 10 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 2 recoveries and 3 interceptions.

Source: Dolphins agree with ex-Eagles RB Jordan Howard

Eagles not picking up team option on Malcolm Jenkins
Jenkins, a three-time Pro Bowler, was the undisputed leader of a team that captured the franchise's first Super Bowl championship in 2017. He did not miss a game during his six-year run in Philadelphia. He finished 2019 with eight passes defensed, four forced fumbles and 2.5 sacks while lining up all over the field for defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz.

Panthers near Teddy Bridgewater deal; Cam Newton unhappy
Bridgewater has been a hot commodity since he had a strong showing while filling in for the injured Drew Brees in New Orleans last season. He went 5-0 as a starter, saving a promising season. Newton was the NFL MVP in 2015 when he led the Panthers to the Super Bowl, a 24-10 loss to Denver. The Panthers have been to the playoffs only once since then, a wild-card loss to the Saints in 2017.

QB Tom Brady expected to sign with Buccaneers, sources say

i

The news comes after Brady said goodbye to the New England Patriots in a series of Instagram posts on Tuesday, ending his 20-year run with the only NFL team he has ever known. Brady, 42, leaves New England with six Super Bowl rings and 41 playoff starts since 2001. Brady's signing will officially end Jameis Winston's reign as Tampa Bay's starting quarterback. He could lose his next 283 starts and still have a better career record than the Bucs franchise.

i

The Bucs had hoped Winston could blossom into the franchise quarterback they needed him to be, selecting him first overall in the 2015 NFL draft. But turnovers plagued him throughout the past five seasons, just as they did in college. His 88 interceptions and 111 turnovers are both the most by any player in the league since 2015. Winston led the NFL with 5,109 passing yards in 2019 but also became the first NFL quarterback to throw 30 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

Source: Philip Rivers to join Colts on 1-year, $25M deal
Rivers, who turned 38 in December, leaves the Chargers with a franchise-best 59,271 passing yards and 397 touchdown passes and holds 30 franchise records in all. Rivers earned eight Pro Bowl invitations, tying him with Antonio Gates for the second most by a Charger since the 1970 NFL-AFL merger, trailing only Junior Seau's 12 selections. His 224-game consecutive starts streak makes him the active leader in the NFL.

Sources: Jason Witten agrees to 1-year deal with Raiders
A third-round pick in 2003, Witten holds Cowboys records for years of service (16), games played (255), games started (244), consecutive games started (179), receptions (1,215) and receiving yards (12,977). He is tied with Bob Lilly for the most Pro Bowl selections (11) and is second to Dez Bryant in touchdown receptions (72).

The Panthers have been to the playoffs only once since then, a wild-card loss to the Saints in 2017.

Panthers give Teddy Bridgewater $63M deal; Cam Newton unhappy
Bridgewater is 22-12 as a starter. That's the seventh-best winning percentage among quarterbacks with at least 30 starts since 2014, Bridgewater's rookie year. The deal with Bridgewater assures the Panthers will move on from Newton even if a trade can't be arranged. Carolina will create $19.1 million in cap space if it trades or releases Newton.

Source: Steelers add 2nd Watt brother, FB Derek
Selected in the sixth round by the Chargers in the 2016 draft, Watt's strength is his versatility as a run blocker, pass catcher and core special-teams player, but he played in just 122 snaps on offense last season. Watt's 16 special-teams tackles led the team, and helped earn him a Pro Bowl first-alternate honors as a special-teams player.

.

Cowboys reach 3-year deal with DL Gerald McCoy, source says
McCoy came to Carolina with the hope of making the playoffs for the first time in his career, which has included six trips to the Pro Bowl and 54.5 career sacks. He had five sacks this past season, marking the first time since 2012 that he didn't have at least 12. McCoy was the third overall pick of the 2010 draft out of Oklahoma.

Source: Ex-Bucs LB Carl Nassib agrees to join Raiders
Nassib, who earned a starting role midway through the 2018 season and had a career-best 6.5 sacks, started 17 of the 29 games in which he played for the Bucs the past two seasons. He also had 63 tackles and three forced fumbles.

Grading Tom Brady's move to the Bucs: The facts, fiction and fit for the GOAT in Tampa

For two decades, Bill Belichick has put the New England Patriots ahead of any single player on the roster. Virtually every veteran who contributed to the greatest dynasty in modern sports has been shipped out or allowed to leave once he was no longer useful or willing to contribute at the right price. Mike Vrabel was traded to the Chiefs. Randy Moss was shipped to the Titans. Vince Wilfork finished up with the Texans. Adam Vinatieri had a whole second career with the Colts.

If there were going to be one exception to that rule, I always figured it would be star quarterback Tom Brady. Nobody ever referred to the Patriots dynasty as Belichick and Vinatieri or Belichick and McDaniels. Belichick and Brady were equals as (arguably) the best head coach and quarterback of all time. They were the two pillars of the Patriots dynasty, the two centerpieces everyone counted out before they came together for a legendary run in New England. The six championships the Patriots won belong equally to both of them.

Was Brady foolish to pick the Buccaneers? Should Tampa have gone for one of the other quarterbacks available? Can Brady be competitive and even compete for a Super Bowl with his new team? Let's run through what we know about this new marriage and get a sense of what to expect for Brady in Florida. Today is about Brady's new opportunity and what comes next for the new pairing of Brady and Bruce Arians.

Whitworth, who turned 38 in December, is entering his 15th season in the NFL and is a four-time Pro Bowl selection and a two-time All-Pro. Whitworth committed 14 penalties, including 10 holds, amounting to the NFL's second-highest total and far more than the seven penalties he committed in the previous two seasons combined.

Sources: Jaguars trading QB Nick Foles to Bears for pick
The Bears are giving up their compensatory fourth-round pick (No. 140 overall), which means the Jaguars now have 12 picks in the upcoming NFL draft. The second overall pick of the 2017 draft, Trubisky finished the 2019 season 28th in Total QBR (39.4), tied for 27th in touchdown passes (17), 21st in passing yards (3,138), 32nd in yards gained per pass attempt (6.1) and 28th in traditional quarterback rating (83.0).

Seahawks bring back DE Bruce Irvin, acquire OT Brandon Shell
Overall, Irvin has 52 career sacks, 301 tackles, 16 forced fumbles (three recoveries) and three interceptions in his eight NFL seasons. He also has two touchdowns. The deal is something akin to a free-agent offensive tackle trade, with Seattle getting Shell, while the Jets get former Seahawks lineman George Fant.
