The funniest was that people were trying to paint him as a Hitler level gifted orator who would convert us all to his bigoted views with expertly chosen words and tone...when really he came across completely out of his depth, like a child playing at being a politician.
Nick Griffin is an odious little man and nothing more than a tin pot Nazi. Just so we're clear.
But after watching Question Time I found it nothing more than a weak setup and a chance for the Lib/Lab/Con's to score points with soundbites.
Ultimately immigration is destroying Britain. That's not a racist point of view. It's a logistical one. No other country in Europe allows the massive influx of immigrants in to the country. To the rest of Europe the very idea is insane. France basically points its own illegal immigrants towards the channel tunnel ffs. C'est la vie.
The Multi Cultural roots of Britain are vital and strong and have made us a better and more vibrant and skilled country. The idea of an all white Britain is retarded and anti-British. But that doesn't mean the country can support MILLIONS of refugees on to our tiny green isle. It's causing ghettos and segregation and that's dangerous. That is not positive immigration. Far from it.
Jack Straw deftly ducked and weaved as best he could on the fact that nothing is being done to stem the flow until he was pushed to answer that they have no intention of changing anything while that Conservative woman attacked him on it while nobody pulled her up on the fact that the Conservatives REALLY did destroy the country when Thatcher was in power when she sent the whole country lock stock down the pan.
No, because Nick Griffin was there. This ridiculous muppet desperately trying to be moderate but being undone by all the blatant evidence that he isn't.
Nothing that was shown on QT will change the mind of current BNP voters. Until the other parties stand up and realize that Britain by and large want real restrictions on the amount of people coming in to the country and they want real sentencing and harsher penalties for those who commit violent crime. The BNP use both of those points as their major platform while the other parties don't want anything to do with it. People get angry, they want a solution and the BNP are there promising it. They're racist Nazi thugs but it doesn't matter to your average low IQ reactionary voter.
They're disillusioned with a system that doesn't work and won't work.
If the BNP want to attach their success to Winston Churchill in any way possible then I think they can keep this quote:
"The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter." - Winston Churchill.
This is how all Right Wing parties come to power.
I hated the BNP before I watched Question Time and I hate them after. On that score nothing has changed.
I've given up being angry with the BNP. It's wasted energy. What I am angry about is the massive amount of White Knighting (excuse the pun) done by the panel.
They have been enablers of the BNP and they need to take responsibility of that fact. I have little faith that they will and as such you can parade Nick Griffin around in a clown suit and throw custard pies at him to gain "cheap pops" but the BNP qill continue to gain support as long as the major parties ignore the major issues.
(I didn't see it all because I was watching Curb, then fliching between it and wrestling. Look how intellctual I am!)
Yes, all politicians suck. It did seem like they were just trying to make themselves look better by taking easy shots at the BNP. I agree with Anakin Skywalker that someone should just "make" the voters vote the right way. Well, I see his point of view anyway.
They should have had Russell Brand as a panelist (they've had Will Fucking Young and Davina Fucking McCall before, so why not) if they really just wanted to destroy the BNP in an amusing way.
still smacked of the lib/lab/con, these BNP are worse then us so vote us...
Immigration seems to be a political minefield in the Uk, i loath the BNP , but I equally dislike MPs abusing there exspense's , its needs a strong government and leader to stand up and address these issues, instead we have an old boys network of priviliged, over paid dusty old fence sitters , and people that dont act allow people like griffin to grab support...
Just replied to this on Facebook, so I won't repeat what I said there, but yeah, I bet politicians were lining up to be on this edition so they could fire off some pre-prepared soundbites, while being relatively sure they wouldn't get analysed too much themselves.
I did think Nick Griffin got stitched up, which may have played into his hands a little, lending him sympathy. But he didn't do himself any favours when he was given a rare chance to speak at length. He spent so much time denying well documented quotes and trying to convince everyone that he wasn't a racist that we never found out what his real policies were. Unfortunately, that probably won't matter to the type of people who vote BNP.
Griffin has been a poor speaker since he first came to public prominence. I have no idea why there was a fuss about him appearing. He met his own worst enemy as he always does whenever any of his sad, pathetic views are recorded - himself.
