Niki Blue...

Too true, too true...and this coming from an invisible EI poster. Yet, the funny thing is, in later posts some long-standing EI member will say something I've said as if it was their own idea.

First off little missy ;) , I always saw you, (not invisible to me) you wrote some thought provoking items in the OT. I was just busy fighting to keep my own head above the water after being continuously beaten down by the be excellent EI liberals.

But yet I did notice that those EI 'A' list folks did take your ideas and presented them as their own. If I would have said anything I would have had yet another fight on my hands.

Of all the boards I have posted on, EI has the meanest most vicious folks posting.

Thanky RU, you are most kind. And I find it odd that no one on EI ever thought that of you. They didn't see the sharp wit you display, but then they refused to see the humor of DS, or the mirror CU and Blondie held up, or the insightful wisdom of Cait. In the end, nothing should really surprise me anymore about people.

Shortly you will be known as a Tk'er and not an EI member.

I areadly told you this twice but I am sorry you received threating emails...That really sucks!! :(

Ehh, there are a lot of worse things to be known as than a TK'er.

And thanks (again), it sucks, but I'm not really that concerned about it. It doesn't take a lot of balls to send anonymous threats. Now, if they wanna come find me and say it to my face... ;)

^ If it makes you feel any better Niki, I just sent a nasty E-mail to the [email protected] address.

Of course, I used my registration e-mail that has "robl" in the address, so they can hunt me down if they don't like what I said (which is a 100% certian)

Did you notify the admins of the nasty PMs you got, Niki Blue? I got one and sent it to the admins. Not a lot they could do but have a little chat with the sender. Sometimes that is enough.

I would have, eloisel, but they weren't PMs. I stupidly left my email account on my EI profile and they were sent directly to me.

I didn't notify the staff because it didn't take place on EI, therefor it would have been really hypocritical of me to run to them and expect them to do something about it after I'd just been so vocal about the staff not doling out punishment for things that happened away from the site.

Oh, that is worse then. Were they EI posters who got your email address off of EI? If so, I'd still report them to the EI admins. I'd also report them to the email providers for the persons who sent you the emails. People that take board disagreements off board and into real life, or closer into real life via personal email, are people that are probably unhinged - well, that has been my experience anyway.

I'm going to try to handle this myself first. If these people are really that serious that they want to come after me, I doubt a little talk with the board admins will really stop them. And as they used yahoo & hotmail accounts (throw away free accounts) it's a little harder to trace them but they made it very clear that it was because of EI.

I'd fluff this off like I usually do, except that last summer I was stalked and almost abducted by someone who saw me on myspace.com. So, I'm taking this a little more seriously than I normally would.

That is just disgusting - chickenshit bullies. Only good thing about it is someday they will die. Glad to hear you are taking this seriously, though. While the internet has allowed us to meet many more cool people, it has also exposed us to more realy loonies too.

Exactly. ;)

Which is one of the reasons why the minute I turn 21 I will be purchasing some sort of firearm and teaching myself to use it. One abduction attempt is all I need to start taking my own personal safety seriously. I obviously won't be carrying a weapon around with me, but having one in my apartment after I move out certainly won't be a bad idea.

(Alternately, the minute I turn 21 I will also be buying a big bottle of vodka. I will not, however, be using these two purchases simultaneously. ;))

Uh... do us and yourself a favor? Don't teach yourself how to use it. Go through some sort of reputable course. In fact, if you're in a state that allows it, find out what you need to do to get your Concealed Carry permit -- your research on that should turn up good instructors, plus you'll be legal to carry your weapon on you at all times. The most worthless tool in the world is the one you didn't bring with you.

Amen to all the above, with the follow caveat that different states have different regulations about where a concealed firearm may be carried regardless of license. For example, in my state:

(a) No license issued pursuant to this subchapter shall authorize any person to carry a concealed handgun into:
(1) Any police, sheriff's, or Department of Arkansas State Police station;
(2) Any Arkansas Highway Police facility;
(3) Any buildings of the Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department, or onto grounds adjacent to such buildings, except that this subdivision (a)(3) shall not apply to rest areas and weigh stations of the department;
(4) Any detention facility, prison, or jail;
(5) Any courthouse;
(6) Any courtroom, except that nothing in this subchapter shall preclude a judge from carrying a concealed weapon or determining who will carry a concealed weapon in his courtroom;
(7) Any polling place;
(8 ) Any meeting place of the governing body of any governmental entity;
(9) Any meeting of the legislature or a committee thereof;
(10) Any building wherein a state office is located;
(11) Any athletic event not related to firearms;
(12) Any portion of an establishment, except a restaurant as defined in § 3-9-402, licensed to dispense alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises;
(13) Any portion of an establishment, except a restaurant as defined in § 3-9-402, in which beer or light wine is consumed on the premises;
(14) Any school, college, community college, or university campus building or event, unless for the purpose of participating in an authorized firearms-related activity;
(15) Inside the passenger terminal of any airport, except that no person shall be prohibited from carrying any legal firearm into the terminal if the firearm is encased for shipment for purposes of checking such firearm as baggage to be lawfully transported on any aircraft;
(16) Any church or other place of worship; or
(17) Any place where the carrying of firearms is prohibited by federal law.
(b)(1) In addition to the places enumerated in this section, the carrying of a concealed handgun may be disallowed in any place in the discretion of the person or entity exercising control over the physical location of such place by the placing of a written notice clearly readable at a distance of not less than ten feet (10') that the "carrying of a handgun is prohibited."
(2) Provided, no sign shall be required for private homes, and any licensee entering a private home shall notify the occupants that he is carrying a concealed handgun.
(c) No license issued pursuant to this subchapter shall authorize the participants in a parade or demonstration for which a permit is required to carry a concealed handgun.
History. Acts 1995, No. 411, § 2; 1995, No. 419, § 2; 1997, No. 1239, § 2

People get really angry with me when I tell them I do not like guns and do not want them around me. It is a scary thing to piss off people who carry guns. Be prepared to lose some friends when you start carrying a gun because they'll be afraid of you. My apologies to the gun enthusiasts out there. It is your choice to be able to kill things, my choice not to be one of them you kill. If it is any consolation, I feel the same way about drunk drivers.

How do people send anonymous e-mails? Do they go to a cyber cafe and send it from there? Please understand, I am not questioning that this activity actually took place, I am just clueless how it is done.

It seems to me that EI must have some very unhinged members who would resort to this type of cowardly intimidation just because they disagree with Nikki. And, since many of us belong to EI, as well as TK, we should all be aware of what can possibly happen when posting on EI where TK members are reviled out of hand.

The answer is: it takes about 5 minutes or less to set up a hotmail account. You can put anyone's name on it. No big deal...standard trade secret of the troll.

In Blondie's case, it was from a yahoo account, and it went to her private email account that was not for public consumption. Therefore either a staff member did it, or the email was leaked by a staff member to someone who did it. Either way, if you're a staff member at EI, you're automatically on my shitlist. That way, I know I'm pissed off at the right person.
