Official "Defying Gravity" Thread

I saw the Halloween one yesterday, good to see the crew starting to put the pieces together (well, Zoe and Donner, anyway). I wonder why rabbit lady (I don't remember all their names) and the fat guy didn't get any visions.

All the visions have hinged on a past trauma - Zoe's miscarriage, Donner losing Sharon on Mars, Paula's dog dying (lol), Evram's war PTSD, etc. The only vision we haven't had an explanation for is the man Nadia saw, who she played herself. Likely, he's a lost twin brother or something of the like. To explain why Jen and Wass haven't had visions, it's possible that they've not had any traumatic experiences like the rest, but of course the obvious deus ex machina stands by waiting to be employed.

I'd forgotten about Nadia, yeah, she looks hot in the flashbacks with her long hair, but I don't think the short hair works.

I got the feeling that from a writing PoV, the only reason Jen and Wass didn't get visions was so there'd be someone from the crew to talk about what was happening with the others and notice they were having visions. Otherwise it would have just been a bunch of people standing still, staring into space while they were shouted at by ground control.

That's a shame, but there are a few countries involved in the production, so hopefully we'll get to see the rest of the episodes, even if no more will be made.

I won't bother watching it then.

It wasn't that good, tbh. It was a soap opera in space.

"Grey's Astronomy" was one of the puns used on IMDb a lot.

I was just thinking.. I bet this show got canceled because of the abortion. The character probably wasn't as upset about it as the anti-abortionists thought she should be.

To be honest, I didn't approve when AJ told her she did the right thing last week. Weighing it up, she probably did do the best thing, but it's not what a Hindu would say.

Maybe that contributed to it getting canceled, but the ratings probably didn't help either.

HOLD THE PHONE! Apparently somebody spoke too soon:
ABC REP: "DEFYING GRAVITY" NOT CANCELED
[09.14.09 - 06:32 PM]
By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Let the speculation end: ABC's "Defying Gravity" is still very much alive.

Nicole Marostica, the show's publicist for the network, has confirmed the Alphabet hasn't pulled the plug on the show and is still mulling scheduling options going forward.

Due to its late start this summer, ABC didn't have the real estate to air all 13 installments from its first season. "Gravity's" shortened run was made clear from the start: the network announced back on July 22 (read the story), "Brothers & Sisters" would return to its Sunday, 10:00/9:00c slot on September 27, leaving "Gravity" just eight weeks of potential air dates.

This coming Sunday, ABC will air the 2005 feature "King Kong" rather than put originals against CBS's coverage of the Emmys.

"Gravity" nevertheless has been a lackluster performer at best - last night's airing drew just 2.52 million viewers (including a 0.9 rating among adults 18-49), making it the least-watched program on the four major networks.

No indication was given as to when the show will return.
LOL NEVER WATCHED THE SHOW JUST THOUGHT I'D PASS THIS ALONG Q'PLAH

Hmm. C'est interessant. Thanks. :)

They could move it to any night of the week at 10pm. People will soon be starved for a scripted show after they've had their fill of Jay Leno FIVE NIGHTS A WEEK.

Remember all those articles aying SARAH CONNOR ISN'T CANCELLED YET! but then it got cancelled anyway.

Mmm, doughy.

It's sad that he turned to drugs, but cool that The Simpsons was on in the background.

I think it's 1000x less soap opera-y than bsg, personally. Glad to hear it's not canceled yet. I mean, COME ON CORPORATE SUITS YOU NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DO IN OCTOBER THINK THIS SHIT THROUGH

Well it must be the least soap opera-y thing ever then, if that percentage is accurate.

Way too many flashbacks.

Remember remember the fifth of November gun powder treason and plot. I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot.

Funny you should say that, that's when the crew were supposed to be told about the alien.

Just saw episode 8. That was really good. Definitely the best episode yet. Hopefully CTV will continue showing the series, because it's just hitting its stride.
