JJ says they had a cameo in mind but it didn't work out and Shatner woudln't have done it anyway. Shatner says he was never offered a cameo but he wouldn't have done it anyway. SO THEY AGREE, BASICALLY.

It will. It may be a blockbuster spectacular and may have lots of cool moments and all that jazz and hell, it might not even be a bad "movie" but it will NEVER be a good Trek movie.

The whole point has been lost.

OK, so I haven't seen it and I'm judging it before hand and all... BUT STILL.

I really don't see how it can be a good Trek Movie. Successful Trek has never heavily pandered to the masses.

If it were just Kirk, Spock, McCoy and Scotty stood in front of a fence drinking beer, saying "Yup" for 90 minutes, it would still be better than nemisis
 
If he's still alive when they start making the next one, I wouldn't be so surprised if he was in it, although it would almost give the impression that the studio didn't think the new franchise could stand on it's own two feet if two movies in a row partly relied on bringing back the original stars.
 
More than half of Trek movies aren't good Trek movies.
 
Mainly the ones with Brent Spiner in them
 
Brent Spiner should have stayed away from comedic roles. His acting turned into self-parody and just got kinda sad 'n' pathetical.
 
He was pretty good in the episodes of Enterprise he was in, since he wasn't being Data or Data wearing a mask or any stupid shit. But Enterprise sucks.
 
He must have had a hell of an agent to have demanded all those millions for his acting in the films, considering before then all he did was small bit parts, and thats all he's done since too.

Hell even Stewarts time seems to have passed, from multi million dollar paychecks to been ignored by autograph hunters mobbing Tennent.
 
Don't speak ill of Patrick Stewart. Even if it's true.
