It's a tough job, and I do not envy you in the slightest. A board like that is tough to run. I question even if I could do it, and I'm fantastic in every way.
We were willing to go with your decision for the time being and argue the case through the proper channels. The Jamey Whistler decision is a bad one, and sets a precedent, but we were willing to fight it via Help Desk.
But if we're now going to have to change our avatars because one person feels it is trolling them, then we're not going to stand by and see our freedoms being encroached on and our community destroyed without a big damn fight.

But if you guys want the rules changed, you have to realize that you might not like what you get with the change.
Whether you go for more rules, or less rules, you'll get complaints. That much is certain, and I am quite sure you took the ownership of Wordforge with that in mind.
But when it comes to freedom, it is ALWAYS a good decision to err on the side of more freedom than less.
We got rid of the pedo-accusation rule, and though some people get called kiddie fiddlers, it largely hasn't been a problem. We erred on the side of more freedom by letting Hood, CheekyMonkey, Goldeneye, etc. back in, and nothing horrible has happened from that.
It is the cases where freedom is limited that problems arise, because it means the implementation of rules, and said penalties for breaking said rules.
Saying that, I'm not in favor of a free-for-all approach to running the board, but clearly, the personal info rule needs to be seriously re-examined. As it is, Wordforge tries to run like an island onto itself in the great sea of the internet, with arbitrary rules on what is and isn't acceptable. What is a matter of public knowledge at other boards and blogs is not acceptable to be posted there. Private info is not to be shared on the board, but it's ok to point to another thread somewhere on the internet where that information is freely available.
Management of the pedo rule created more hassle and paperwork for the mods and admins to wade through. Was this guy warned for this post or wasn't he? Is this implied statement against the rules? It creates 500 reply threads when we could be talking about politics, religion, etc. instead.
You really should be kissing the asses of all the mods on your staff, because quite frankly, I'm surprised that they have not all just said "Fuck this shit" in unison and become just regular posters again.
If you want to change the rules, err on the side of more freedom. It's less work for everyone.
