When I took control of TK I was a 26-year-old idealistic cunt. I'm still a cunt but I'm 12 years older and this forum sits on my server that is the basis of my continuing business. I'm getting pretty tired of seeing borderline touchy shit I have to worry about prospective clients stumbling upon because I host it. That idealism is still a thing though. I have been banned from more sites than I have had hot dinners because I pushed some idiot the wrong way. I'll never be that guy but I have to reevaluate what this site looks like considering it's hosted by someone who has a lot more to lose than the 26-year old that took control of it in 2009.
And beyond that, holy shit, Speak Freely is a mess.
Speaking frankly and just for myself, I'd rather see The Legendary Troll Kingdom gone than mutate into something it wasn't created to be.
My suggestion? 100% rebrand and repurpose.
Maybe just make the Mine Field the entirety of the board. Alternatively, lock visibility of the forums with "spicy" content to members-only access. Only people who want to see what's in there will be able to see what's in there.
That said: I can't think of a single constructive purpose served by having TK on your business server. If you were to shitcan the entire thing, I wouldn't say you weren't in the right to do it.

It's all under review. The forum rearrangement is temporary until I decide on some better options. I'm pretty tired of some of the shit that goes for content here and it affects me directly as the host. My options will always fall on the side of least resistance but this place has been in need of a facelift for a while and since I have a minute to actually spend time on some upgrades to the software over the next couple of weeks I'll also be looking at some other things. It's no more complicated than that.

I can kind of see wisdom of closing a bunch of inactive forums in order to concentrate activity in fewer remaining forums. That isn't bad. The stated problem was one member bumping old threads. I am not sure why that is so terrible. Also, why kill active threads (such as Volpone's jobs thread) by putting them in the archieves?
My thought exactly. I had been under the assumption that this board was hosted somewhere less easily tied to Menty himself. I'd probably have kept things a good deal more moderate, had I known that before, considering the U.K.'s less-than-liberal stance on expression.
