I don't usually notice the battles being resused (and it hardly counts as a clip show considering battles scenes probably make up less than 1% of any episode they're in.)

The Original Series was well reknowned for that. Reused FX litters practically every episode. I think one shot of a planet wound up as 4-5 planets.

We can make certain allowances since it was in the 60's.

I liked it in season three of TOS when they got a rear projection viewscreen, and Kirk would make a point of walking in front of it every episode.
