The boy who won the competition danced under super cool rain effects and lighting, while doing fairly amateur moves (he also claimed that if he didn't win, his life was over). THESE guys did something much better, but only had a few dancers as backup. Also, some of the other contestants weren't allowed to choose what music to since or dance to, so it was a FIX.
OK, so I watched the performance that won. The kid is pretty good for his age. He definitely did a good job but he's far too jittery in his move set. This is a common problem with technical dance. Actually, my mate Suleman (in the first video) has the same problem when impersonating MJ. Power through the moves too fast and it ends up looking like you're performing move after move in a sequence as opposed to naturally dancing to the beat and as a result you lose fluidity and rhythm. This is one of the reasons that there are no MJ impersonators who can capture the look of his dance style beyond replicating the moves one after the other (which is impressive all the same.)
Anyway, the kid that won was copying another legendary poplocker by the name of David Elsewhere. I know these things.
