Owen Wilson Tries to Commit Suicide

He only had a cameo at the end, now that I think about it.
 
I thought Meet the Fockers was a very weak movie. I consider Meet the Parents to be an excellent comedy and it succeeds in everything it tries to be. The sequel just fell flat.


I do tend to like Owen Wilson. I know some people can't stand him but when I'm watching a mindless comedy (the type he's usually in) I am not expecting an Oscar winner. I just want to be amused. And Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson movies usually deliver.


And yeah, nobody knows what really happened but he hasn't denied he tried to kill himself so that's usually a good indication he probably did tip over the edge.


Whatever the case it was probably a cry for help. I doubt he will try it again.

Coogan Hits Out at Reports He's Responsible for Wilson's Decline

British funnyman Steve Coogan is taking swift legal advice after he was accused of providing Owen Wilson with the hard drugs that sent the actor spiraling to an all-time low. The Life Aquatic star is now recovering from the confirmed suicide bid at Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Medical Center as speculation about his mental state circulates through the world's media. And now Coogan has been dragged into the controversy after Fox News claimed friends of Wilson's were blaming the actor's Night At The Museum co-star for getting him into drugs. The news report features a quote from Courtney Love, who reportedly dated Coogan. She says, "I tried to warn Owen... I hope from the bottom of my heart that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." But Coogan insists he's innocent to the charges he aided Wilson's decline, stating, "These accusations are unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful to all concerned." The Brit adds, "We are taking legal advice."

The downward spiral that led Owen Wilson to ultimately attempt to take his life on Aug. 26 was perhaps helped along by the film funnyman "hanging out around the wrong people," sources tell Us, with several singling out actor Steve Coogan. Courtney Love, recalling her own past association with the Brit bad boy, tells the mag, "I was just out of rehab and he was right there with the drugs." When Coogan cozied up to Wilson (both costarred in Night at the Museum), "I tried to warn Owen," says Love. "I hope... that Owen stays the hell away from that guy." In response, Coogan tells TV's Extra, "These accusations are unfounded, unhelpful and hurtful to all concerned. We are taking legal advice."

So bad was Wilson's drug dependency, reports Us, that pal Woody Harrelson staged an intervention in May that, alas, didn't take.

I've met Coogan and he is a prat. But he is still fucking hilarious. Alan Partridge is genius.

If that's true though it's fucked up.
 
Yeah, but you can't blame someone else if you're out partying all the time and get all fucked up. Owen Wilson is grown, I'm sure that Coogan guy didn't force him to take drugs.
 
But Courtney Love also accused Coogan of fathering her child, which was completely made up, so you have to say, consider the source.
 
And she murdered Kirk Cobain.
 
Also, she said it to Fox News.

Which means that Coogan was probably making some nice chamomile tea for Wilson at the time. At which point Wilson jumped up and said "EARL GRAY, HOT!" and did the deed.

Sorry, I'm all about the gallow's humor today...

She was pushing the edge of of what it meant to be a white trash queen long before Britney and Paris showed up. In a way, she is to being a white trash queen as Kurt was to modern music. As what Nirvana did quickly became processed and packaged by the musak machine, so has Paris and Britney nicely coasted on and dumbed down the brilliant crazy batshit antics of Courtney Love.
