I considered the possibility, but there is no opportunity for a punchline in Mentalist's statement. It was delivered as a flat assessment of Alabaster's appearance.

There was no hook, no bait, no insult, no humor, no irony, and no lead.

You might say his assessment was used to draw a response from Alabaster, but, without a lead, he's not guaranteed a response. If anything, he might simply be dismissed without having the opportunity to deliver a troll attack as a result.

Calling trolled or pwned, especially in such strong terms, when the case doesn't justify it only gives confidence to the target, which I doubt Mentalist even needs. If it's so obvious that Mentalist was trolled, why not ask the people what they think? If you want to call bias and skewed reception that's fine, but the same bias could be called on yourself.
