Phil Collins hatred: justified or a meme?

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
Every single human being on the planet hates Phil Collins and knows that they are justified in hating him. BUT ARE THEY REALLY? Have they actually considered the reasons for their rightseous hate or just picked it up from the collective consciousness? Is there really reason why everyone on the planet should hate the bastard unconditionally?

Genesis were pretty good but by comparison Collins solo stuff is fucking weak. Plus there have been some assholish stuff about his personality that have come out (he divorced his wife by fax which on reflection is pretty funny.) Mainly it's because he's a sucky musician and very annoying.

But there's probably lots of musicians who are just as bad and have divorced their wives by texting.

I like him

May God have mercy on you soul.

He's good in that Cadbury's ad with the drums.

Until they change the song (but keep the same drumming.)

I think we should just douse this thread with petrol and set it on fire and never talk about Phil Collins ever again. No good can come of it.

Phil Collins would have made the greatest Sith Lord of all time, by simply being himself. Force Shitty Solo Albums couldn't have been blocked by any Jedi means (along with The Smiths' Force Dodgy B-Sides).

Bob Geldof would also have made an excellent Sith Lord. With a "Don't Like Mondays" single in the CD tray, he hovers a finger over the play button, as a rebel prisoner looks on.

"Join the fookin dark side or I'll PLAY IT AGAIN!"

Can you feel it coming in the air tonight, oh lord

I found the joke was rather cheapened when he revealed it was pre-planned rather than completely ad-libbed. :(

He's still a genius, though. This week's Ponderland had me howling.

I thought it was ad-libbed. How did he know Bob was going to call him a cunt?

Because he joked about sleeping with his daughter?

Eventually someone will see the funny side in joking about sex with daughter/grandaughter!

He explained it in his stand up gig that was on C4 a while back. Him and the guy who he writes scripts with had written an intro or something referencing Bob Geldof slightly earlier and they guessed Geldof would react badly to it, so they came up with something to say in reply.
