Sometimes when I hear, "This call may be monitored for quality assurance"
I say to the human who I finally get to talk to
"This call may be monitored for legal purposes in case I decide to beat the living shit out of you"

What do you expect the reaction to be?
 
I would expect them to hang up.
 
The trick is to get them to call YOU for some reason. The next time a telemarketer calls, put them on hold, but instead of Muzak, blast some Nine Inch Nails into the reciever.
 
Nice. I ask if I can call them back, get thier number, ask when they eat dinner etc etc
 
Or If they ask for someone that does not live in my household I say
"Jerk! They died this morning! You couldn't have called at a worse time!"
 
I once pretended that someone was assaulting me. They kept calling after the phone hung-up. The girl thought it was creepy, but she wouldn't have given it up anyway.
