Positive Honesty

I work in Marketing. Armando Iannucci deplores us for our relentless positivity.

People in Marketing would see Hiroshima as an "Opportunity for a blank canvas in urban design"

I think of that as more greedy and opportunistic with a side of inapropriate. Marketing doesn't care about people it cares about product. Period.

I will add that to my "reasons to hate self" box. It's fairly full, but I am sure I can squeeze a few more comments in.

An example of Marketing 'positivity':

Jack-in-the-box discovers it has the slowest drive thru service of any major fast food chain.

Jack-in-the-box marketing decides it's cheaper to market it as a feature (We don't make it until you buy it) instead of actually fixing the problem.

We just arrange the flowers we are given. Somehow marketing get the blame for cheapness / cost cutting?

Look to the COO, or the CFO for crap like that.

Oh, here is the best parody of what I do:

I play "Patsy Jenkins" in this particular ditty.

I also still quote the line "Awkward, uncomfortable drink with the Client anyone?"

I watch Mad Men so I understand.

People using "disinterested" as a synonym for "uninterested" annoys me, but I think it's mostly my way of compensating for the fact that I've gone in for a degree that's pretty much useless unless you also want to go $150,000 in debt and pass the bar exam after you're done.

I am reading "A New Earth" by Eckhart Tolle. Has anyone here read it? The author is talking about how we really love to sit in our shit and be miserable human beings. To put it in my own words. And I think I kind of agree.

I am finally at a point where I feel happy again and its such an akward feeling because it has been one hell of a year. Its about fucking time.

But I still believe in just saying I am having a bad day if I am having a bad day. Life will will not be absent of difficulty or challenges (see how I put a positive spin on that) But I believe in finding solutions and not sitting and complaining about something forever and ever, or making other people be responsible for my unhappiness. (Just ignore the thousands of threads where I do just that)

Life is a learing process and I am learing every day. And I don't know why I am posting this here LOL. Have a great day.

I lear every day too Mirah.
