the thing i miss about TG was a simple easy to follow steps to using proxies. does anyone still have that?? Ares made it for me. Man I miss that guy.

1) Find a site with a free proxy.
2) Put the proxy in the box that says "Automatic Proxy Configuration URL" in your connection settings.

It also helps to get SwitchProxy if you have Firefox/Mozilla and you have multiple proxies.

In my experience, yes elites run slower, but are undetectable by their nature. So, if a site is running software to look for proxies, then it won't give telltale signs like an anonymous proxy will.
An anonymous is faster, but detectable if someone is looking for proxies.
For simple reading, but not posting, I use transparent proxies unless I'm feeling paranoid.
The good thing about samair is that many of his anonymous proxies are reasonably fast.
I'll understand if this doesn't help much, but that's the way it is. I've even found that anonymizer sites tend to be slow.

I used to use one from Ethiopia. Used it for several months, in fact, until it finally crapped out on me.
A word of advice: don't use proxies from Arabic nations or from the People's Republic of China, unless you think having feds on your doorstep is a good idea.
