PS 3 is FUCKING AWESOME!!

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
Not only is it a fantastic game console, AND a teriffic blu-ray player, but it's esentially a backup computer system for viewing media.

I've downloaded all the episodes from Doctor Who, series 4, and rather than spend the time (and money) burning them to DVD, I bought a little 4GB flash drive (for $12.99) and transfered the 1st 9 eps. Took all of 15 minutes. Now, I can just plug the flash drive into the front USB, and watch them whenever I like. BRILLIANT!!

It's flopping bigtime compared to the Wii and XBox 360.

I buy a game console to play games, not to julienne a potato or get my whites brighter. And Blu-Ray would not have won the HD standard war if they hadn't been hastily chucked into PS3's. It was a manipulative, whorish move. Plus LOL THERE'S ALREADY A BETTER

Wii kicks everything's ass right now.

I might get one just for the Blu-Ray element.

What if Blu Ray is then replaced by ROBOT CHILD format the next day?

Then I would buy a ROBOT CHILD maintenance kit, with MJ add-ons.

Thought about getting a Wii, but in the end, the graphics looked HORRIBLE. I played a couple of demo games, and while they were fun, they were more for kids or families. When my son is old enought to be a gamer, maybe I'll buy one.

I buy consoles for games as well; however, $400 is still pricey, no matter how much money I'm making. The added benefit of being a Blu-Ray, and the storage capabilities pushed the PS3 over the top for me.

PS3: Great Blu-Ray player. Terrible games console.

Does it upscale standard DVDs to HD at all?

Plus you can download HD tv programs, and if the file fits on a DVD or usb memory stick, you can play the files on your PS3 in full HD

Brilliant.

Which I just did for the trailer of terminator salvation.

And I do on a weekly basis for the clone wars shorts.

Plus you can put GTA4 on, go on multiplayer, and kill strangers all around the world.

How is the online component? I'm going to set up a wireless network sometime in the New Year, so I can download GH an RB songs & stuff.

How can I tell that the show I'm d/l is HD? I d/l the entire 4th series of Doctor Who, it said HD, but when I play it on my PS3 (thru flash drive), it's NOT HD.

Thats because Doctor Who isnt made in HD, so no matter how hard you look for HD who, you wont find it, Torchwood is though.

Filesize is the key, a HD program will be 4 times the size of the same program in regular def.

Online gaming is great, but you can get kicked from the server often, adjusting your router frequancy can help to avoid being on the same one as a neighbour though

Ok, thanks. Doctor Who still looks pretty good, though.

I'm going to d/l the first season of Heroes for LG, I'll check the file size and make sure it's HD.

Also generally people encode HD stuff as .mkv files (I'm not sure what files the PS3 uses though) and not .avi like with SD.

Technology has passed me by.
