Little Moments: C-
Meh. Totally generic country music.

Alcohol: C+
Better. I like country songs with a gimick. Worst part of the song is the title. Like coutry fans would be too dumb to figure it out if he didn't spell it out.

The Talkin' Song Repair Blues: B
Clever song. Jackson exemplifies classic country. Not my favorite song by him, but it's got a gimick, and a couple of nice cord changes.

Redneck Woman: B+
Hell Ya! A huge hook, a trashy hot redneck girl in painted on jeans, good stuff.

When I think about Cheatin': C-
More generic country. Been done before, been done better.

Portland, Oregon: Not on Napster

I May Hate Myself in the Mornin': C
I like Lee Ann, I Hope You Dance is a great song, but this doesn't live up to it. Sorry, didn't do much for me.

My Give a Damn's Busted: B
Hard not to like anything Jo Dee, she's so fiesty. And it's got that 'catch' that survives outside the song (the title) - I am sure we'll hear people saying that. It's not as good as Heads Carolina, Tail California or Bring On the Rain, though.

Overall: C+
A couple strong selections, but too much generic country. There is so much clever and original country out there now you can do better.

Sheep Go to Heaven - Cake
Toledo - Elvis Costello & Burt Bacharach
Satellites - Rickie Lee Jones
Give Me Back My Man - The B-52's
Never Gonna Give You Up - Barry White
Stay By Me - Annie Lennox
The World Exploded Into Love - Bob Schneider
From A Late Night Train - The Blue Nile
Shooting Star - Bob Dylan
Perfect - Fairground Attraction

Sheep Go to Heaven: B
Interesting. It's got a certain 'jamming' feel to it, almost improv. It's certainly original. Not my style, but I recognize that it's good.

Toledo: C+
Meh. I always like Elvis, but this one didn't impress me that much. Some nice intrumental solos, but otherwise not my cup of tea.

Satellites: B+
Good harmonies, cute voice, very catchy chorus. Fun song.

Give Me Back My Man: C
Not my favorite by the B52's. Her voice is a little off in this one. Sounds like maybe one of their earlier works?

Never Gonna Give You Up: B
Not a big Barry White fan - but I recognize a good song when I hear it - even if I don't like it.

Stay By Me: B
She's such a freak, but in a good way. Very dramatic song, with a nice beat you can dance too.

The World Exploded Into Love: B-
This song turned me gay. Thanks a lot. Now I have to go listen to early Madonna to reclaim my manhood.

From A Late Night Train: Not in Napster

Shooting Star: B
Dylan was the man. You can always count on great lyrics and this doesn't disappoint. But, it wanders a bit. Dylan songs always seem at their best when someone else edits them down and signs them.

Perfect: B
50's flashback! Fun, with some funky rythm changes thrown in that I always like.

OVerall: B
A bit ecclectic, but interesting. Satellites is a keeper, and I'll look into more from that band.
