QUANTUM OF SOLACE

That doesn't exactly roll of the tongue.

I'm trying to imagine it in the growly voice of the guy(s) who does does the voice-over narration on trailers ("IN A WORLD...", etc.) and it's just not working.

A MAN...

A WOMAN...

A QUANTUM...

THIS SUMMER...

I wonder what the criteria is for choosing the titles for new Bond films.
Lots of crickety-crack and a random-word-generator?

This was an original title for a short James Bond story written by Ian Fleming himself.

Casino Royal was also from a Bond novels title, before that I think you have to go back to living daylights, before you get to a bond title based on a Fleming book or short story.

And there are still a few that never got used, like "property of a lady"

seriously? this I did not know! never read that one. yeah, that was what my point was, it seemed they were just making up titles after Living Daylights (not counting Casino Royale, which I've read).
I wonder if the library has Quantum of Solace....
thnx for the info, Rich.

My pleasure, for your eyes only is the book you want, although considering that a quantum of solace is about James Bond having dinner with people he considers boring, I doubt any of that will end up in the film

Goldeneye was the name of Ian Flemings house, so at least that had a partial conection with the James Bond world

And "The World is Not Enough" was always said to the the Bond family motto, if I remember correctly.

Indeed, its mentioned in OHMSS.

Tommorow never dies wasnt even meant to be the title, apparently it was faxed over as tommorow never lies, and it got smudged, and they liked the new one better.

WHAT ABOUT MOONRAKER?

Thats from an Ian Fleming book

HE must have been so stoned when he thought of Octopussy.

How Dada.

From Wikipedia's "For Your Eyes Only" page:

'The collection contains five short stories "From a View to a Kill", "For Your Eyes Only", "Quantum of Solace", "Risico" and "The Hildebrand Rarity".'

Can't wait for Risico!

The next one will probably be The Carbon Footprint Never Lies and the villain will be Al Gore.
