R.I.P. Dana Reeve

I like everyone in this thread too and yes, I got a little emotional, sorry for that. Everyone is entitled to be who they are.

I guess it's my old fashioned upbringing. I get startled to hear such clinical observations about the dead so soon after they pass. I'm used to the ritualistic vague sympathies that are passed back and forth, even if they lack for substance. I didn't know the Reeves, but I know people who suffered through loss, myself included, and that is what fuels my sympathetic muscles when death occurs, even for those who I don't know or who I may even have disagreed with.

You know, the whole "any man's death diminishes me" crap. To a point. ;)

I understand where you're coming from, and it's not that I'm not an emotional person. I'm very emotional. It's just sort of abstract to me when I hear that someone I "know" through television, movies, etc. dies. It's not like I've ever spoken to that person, or known that person. To be honest, so much bad shit happens in the world that I sort of force myself to ignore most of it, just to go on taking care of business, if you know what I mean.

That being said, just because I haven't met anyone from this board, that doesn't mean I wouldn't be sad or feel diminished if one of you died.

Oh, and I also have a real soft spot for kids. I had to stop watching all those "Discovery Health Channel" shows, because they always show some kid with some fucked-up disease or genetic abnormality, and I always end up losing it and sobbing. When I watched "Born Without a Face" I cried so hard I almost puked, and I couldn't sleep.

I am a mess of contradictions, aren't I?

So that coupled with me not agreeing with stem cell research from embryos I just don't care for them or their plight. And neither were very good actors.

Yeah, you care about embryos--which are nothing but a clump of non-sentient stem cells--but you don't care about actual human beings who die from lung cancer and spinal cord injuries. What a completely fucked-up set of values.

^Again, I don't know why you bother reading or responding to my posts. A) Lucifer will be making snow angels in hell before I give a damn about what you have to say about me, my views or values. And B) You are so far removed from an exemplary human being the mere idea is light years away from you...Love you though, keep posting.:bigass:
