I think you missed the part where these countries have indeed resisted the control of the means of production by the State by simply voting for parties which privatise State owed industry.

I think you're under the misapprehension that voting is always honest. Let's take financial support of Israel as an example -- both parties support it, when those Americans who do don't necessarily make up the majority. Just one issue. But when the two primary candidates for an office both have so nearly the same stance on an issue that it may as well be identical, voting no longer means shit. And what sets that up? Huge financial support from the particular cause with which both puppets -- 'scuse me, candidates -- are both submissively, obediently aligned. State ownership of private industries? Yeah, can't think of too many pockets deeper than that of the State (mainly owing to the fact that they've raided the people's to deepen them.) So yeah, voting is not a viable form of resistance to state seizure of industry. Try again.

Except in all the countries in which it has happened: Canada, UK, Denmark, Iceland, Finland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, and on and on and on...

I know you want it to be otherwise, but it is not. The US is not a good example of a healthy political environment, seeing how deeply it is corrupted by corporate interests.

How lonely it must be to live in your political conception of the world; nary a single facts at all to keep you company.

This thread does nothing but prove that Americans do NOT understand socialism, which is why they fear it. The USA is a country that calls Canada a socialist state, when it has NEVER been one such.
 
Socialism is the flame that keeps our societies standing. It is not a political system, it is a way life.

Capitalism will not last long. Comrade Ahmedinajade leads a great nation with an Iron Fist and the People's will. Comrade Obama is slowly learning the lesson, and I am proud of his proposed health care system.
