Recommend science fiction and fantasy novels to me

^I downloaded that a while ago (I know, I know...) haven't read it yet.

I've tried quite a few Discworld books on the grounds that they sound like the kind of thing I'd like...but I didn't like them much.

I didn't like Discworld either.. but Good Omens is awesome.

Have you read The Death Gate Cycle by Margret Weis and Tracy Hickman? I remember those being pretty good.

Snow Crash, and pretty much anything by Neal Stephenson

Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion, by Dan Simmons

The Galactic Center series, starting with In the Ocean of Night, by Gregory Benson

Joffré recommended that to me.. found it interesting to begin with, but those naked space hippies were too much for me. Never got round to finishing it, let alone reading the rest of them.

You could always just skip those parts and try again.
