hOW COME MESSAGE BOARDS NEVER USED TO GET THESE ERROR MESSAGES REMEMBER THE EZBOARD THAT NEVER BROKE ONCE AND IT HAD AN ARCADE AND VISIBLE KARMA AND EVERYTHING PROBABLY.
Who knows. I've reached out via PM to some people who might know how to fix it, no answer yet since none of them post/lurk as much as they used to.
I may try to have the host server restore a previous backup of the entire folder that holds the board.
I screwed up the board trying to fix/reinstall the arcade -- now I can't even access the CP to uninstall it. I still have the last open window when the install finished just in case I can somehow move around the CP again. If I have to restart my laptop, I won't even have that. The last full board backup was end of June, so if I went that route I'd lose a month of posts. Not much I know, but still...plus I'd need tech help installing the backup via FTP. What little I knew about this crap has slowly slipped out my ears over the years.
Something will be back at some point -- just not in the next few days probably.
I so appreciate the PM too btw. I am sorry I cannot help at this time.
Just kidding Eggs Mayonnaise did not message me, but I wanted to pretend for a second that he did, I also wanted to pretend for a second that I could fix the problem and save the day, but I can't, so there is that.
What I would do is copy the website contents via FTP to a seperate part of your hard drive at home, then once you have all that safe, copy your june backup over the FTP to the website.
In theory that should return it back to how it was, and if not, at least you have an august backup of the broken version.
You might not even have to copy over the entire site, just the page you were working on when it went wrong.
In fact try just doing that after the august backup, just copy over the page first, that might fix things and still have all the posts still in place.
Thanks. I've been thinking of doing that -- I just figured it couldn't be that simple, since it's such a shit code and there's no phpBB2 for Dummies out there.
It's like they want people who aren't complete geeks to screw up.
