REPORT CARDS GO HOME FRIDAY!!!

You could at least give her credit for her smartypants Asian genes, right?

I got superior grades across the boards until senior year of high school. Then I got lazy and only did great in classes I liked or found easy (English, Spanish, Graphic Arts, Drama/Comm Arts electives). This trend continued through my college career, especially since the option of not showing up became so much easier.

But I remember surprising the nuns at an early age with my ability to speek and rite guud.

Gotta get er' dun Eggs.

Hot on outside, hot melted shit on inside.

When I was 5 I had a Swiss bank account and a heavy called Mike the ruskie.

Just make sure not to pressure your child too much. I was a straight A student with outstanding test scores, AP and honors classes, and impressive achievements, awards, and extracurricular activities. Then I snapped at some point, and it all went to hell.

^I've warned my friend about that. The kid's 8 and she's heaping waaaaaaaaay too much on him. At any point, he's gonna kill her.

Nah, we're going to encourage our kids to succeed, and give them all the tools they need to be successful. Whether that means more one-on-one parenting, tutors, etc, we'll do whatever it takes.

By the same token, if we see our kids really trying their best, and they get mostly A's and B's with the occasional C, we'll be ok with that. What neither LG nor I will stand for is laziness. If you're slacking off and getting C's, you can be damned sure we'll be on yo' ass.

Having parented three children into adulthood successfully, LG is right about parenting over genes.

It is the parent's motivation, practice and behaviour that creates the result in the child.

Congratulations to Laura for being such a dedicated and wonderful mom.

Thanks Jack. :)
