He was the play-by-play announcer for my beloved Philadelphia Phillies. Anyone interested in hearing just how much he meant to Philadelphians, go here: http://www.610wip.com/ and click on "Listen Live".

I'm 37, "Harry the K" was the Phillies broadcaster for 39 years. Players came and went over so many summers, but Harry Kalas was constant. Check him out in his moment of glory:

Wish I could find his signature home run call.

"The oh-two pitch...Swing and a looong drive!! Watch this baby! Waaaay outta here! Tremendous home run Chase Utley, and the Phillies now lead the ball game 6 to nothing!!"

Man. The voice of 37 summers gone. He will be missed by all Philadelphians.

Still sad about this, but thankful that I got to hear 37 years' worth of summer magic.

I totally get your loss, and I offer my condolences.

This is like when we Met fans lost Bob Murphy a few years ago. The last surviving member of the original '62 broadcast team is Ralph Kiner, who is still sharp as a tack, even though Bell's palsy has slurred his speech somewhat. He still does color commentary and analysis throughout the season.

I'm not wearing any panties!!
:(

While I don't know the man, I know the feeling. Jim Fyffe was the Voice of The Auburn Tigers from before I was born. Even when games were televised, we would mute the TV and listen to the Auburn Network. For 20 years he was a part of life every Saturday in the fall. It was almost like a close family friend passed when he died in 03.

:(

GOD DAMMIT, NOW I'M TEARING UP!

Suck my Logic
Too bad it wasn't the TV announcer. Don't know his name, but he could really put you to sleep.
