APOCALYPSE HAIR!

I wasn't really planning to watch this show BUT the pilot was on last night and there wasn't anything else so I ended up watching it ANYWAY.

The pilot was kind of awful, in the way that pilots usually are. Juliet (Lost) was in it for about 2 minutes right at the beginning! Then IT happened and then the show jumped forward in time by several years, I can't remember how big the jump was but at least 10yrs. They skipped all the bits where society breaks down from the big power outage, and when I say power outage I mean everything. Even batteries stopped working when the mysterious IT happened.

I like the premise of the show. It could be good if they do it right, but this is a serialized sci fi show on a major network so I doubt they will. Already everyone is too clean, the little village is too neat. The bad guys are too bad, the good guys too good. The pilot was filled with violent death, but even that seemed too clean, like it doesn't even matter. I don't know if they will be able to make me care about the characters. I have a hard time hating the villain if the villain is too evil, and I have a hard time loving the good guys when they're too good.

If the show still has no competition next week, I'll watch it again.

Well remember the Lost pilot? That was brilliant. With the guy getting sucked into the engine! How we laughed! They don't seem to do big two hour EVENT pilots like that anymore.

Revolution sounds about as interesting as MY TOES (not very interesting) and it looks like with the time jump they've skipped the only part that could be interesting.

Yeah, they skipped the post apocalyptic part, which is what I like about post-apocalyptic scifi!

I only saw some advertisements where some sort of ring is mentioned that is somehow connected to turning the power back on.

I'll be skipping this one.

It's a necklace! It's a necklace that has a thumb drive or whatever it's called in it... also must have something else in it that makes a computer work because a lady used one.

I figured they would, but I don't like it! I hope they don't rely on flashbacks too much, I don't mind the occasional flashback though.

Funny, everyone that talked about it mentioned the awesome hair that apparently comes with the absence of electricity. The writers have clearly never been on a long camping trip. I thought the show was just okay. Seemed like a lot of the action and violence scenes were very cartoony and silly. Not a promising start, and nowhere near the explosive start LOST had.

It's from the same guy that created and ran the first five seasons of Supernatural.

That's a good thing (to me) but this show's coming off more like Terra Nova.

It doesn't help that the teenage lead comes off less like a self-sufficient teen huntress and more like a spoiled annoying twat. Very petulant in her dealings with others in the cast. And her uncle is an obnoxious drunk who can kill with catlike reflexes. Nonbe of these actors convincingly plays a person who has been living hardscrabble farm life for fifteen years.

Uncle Miles knows kung fu.

Power isn't really out in the real world. They're all stuck in The Matrix.

Falling Skies has hair problems too. All the pretty women on the show have nicely brushed hair, only the berserker chick (KAT FROM BSG) has messy hair, but it's messy like an apocalypse perm. She looks like she could start crumping at any moment.

Good apocalypse hair reminds me of the old cowboy shows on tv where everyone was clean and freshly pressed and no unsightly horseshit piles cluttered the manicured dirt streets.

KRUMPING FOR JESUS! Apparently it's spelled with a K.
