I think if they were able to do this, it would be one of the most important things to happen since the Catholic church came into existence.
I'm not anti-Catholic, or anti-Christian. I am anti-child rapist. The Church aided and abetted criminals, and should be held responsible.
I was raised Roman Catholic, and went to Catholic elementary school. I turned my back on the church shortly after my Freshman year in high school, when I realized how intolerant and exclusionary the Roman Catholic Church is. I've never been completely faithless, just didn't subscribe to any doctrine or follow any organized religion. When I became a Freemason, I considered myself a Deist, much like the Founding Fathers, who are also Freemasons.
When the scandals and cover-ups broke in the mid-80's, I not only turned my back on the Roman Catholic church, I completely severed all ties and wished the church nothing by destruction.
With the newest coverups extending all the way to the Pope, and with the ridiculous statements coming out of the RC Church (The Pope himself has characterized the accusations as a "smear campaign" waged by the media!), I predict that the Roman Catholic church will be all but destroyed in the next decade. Thousands upon thousands of Germans have renounced their Catholicism (you have to register your change of religion with the Government in Germany), and in Ireland, Catholic priests and parishoners are openly mocked, derided, and sometimes spat upon or threatened with violence.
Mark my words, by 2020 or so, the only Catholics left will be the Latinos.
