Roll Call

Well, that's at least 18. Dunno who Dual and 2PAC are, so I won't count them for now. Dunno how many are posting in both places.

Ooh. That's another difference between WF and TBBS: Because TBBS has the Trekkie hook and has been around longer, they can afford to alienate a big chunk of their posters more than WF can.

Same here. I ain't quitting WF but if I want to spit on the floor and call the cat a bastard, I'll come here for a while.

That's a good idea. Think of this as not abandoning the board, but just as a boycot in protest. A strike.

That's something I would like to participate in, but I don't think I have the will power to say away from the Forge for even one day.

bah stupidity.

Nothing changes if you don't actually leave. Why would people running an organization (any organization be it a BBS or something else) care about any given issue if they know people won't leave? They won't.

What's worse?

#1 Whining about stuff but never leaving.

#2 Leaving until things change.

(Oh and if you guys haven't figured it out by now: The issue goes beyond Hood.)

Oh, I'm sure it does, and I am just now seeing that. But what can we accomplish? Unless we all really intend to leave for good and to let Wodforge die (and maybe most hear really do, but I doubt that) what would we like to see happen there? Lanzsman step down (I would favor that, after all of this) and give/sell the board to...who?

Even if Lanz wanted to give it up, who could buy it and afford to run it?

I almost think it would be better if the board could somehow be member owned with people chipping in donations for operating costs, and people voting on things. (Maybe only peole who donate could vote? Or not...) But the way we all seem to violently argue over there, maybe we need a strong leader figure to keep us in line - but preferably one who's response to an issue isn't just basically "because I said so and I'm the boss."

Thats' bogus.

I have no immediate plans to quit, but - while I have made it known that I am not "picking up the torch" for Hood (or Volpone, or anyone else) - I still intend to use my time there to keep bringing up this issue and raising questions. Not in a disruptive way, but a hopefully insistent one. I can at least do that. Even if it just falls on deaf ears. or Lanz just bans me for it.

I have no illusions that I will actually sway anyone or acomplish anything, but maybe I can be one vioce in a crowd. I dont think I will accomplish even the tiniest thing by just quitting the board - at least not yet.

I've been here, I just haven't been very active over here. But, I have to admit, given Lanzman's short time as owner of WF, I can't say that I'm very impressed with him. I also think that he is handling the Hood question very poorly.

It is a shame there is a secret list of succession over at WF and that the board is so easily sold to people like we have seen here.

If Elwood didn't have final veto power over ownership changes and if it wasn't likely because of this that someone like Bear would probably take over if Lanz stepped down then IMHO Cass would be a decent owner, assuming that she'd actually wanted to shell out the cash and time it would take to run the board again.

It depends though who is on the "short list" as Bear puts it for the line of succession for the board ownership.

Nah.

The real 2Pac is chillin' in Jamaica and making money off posthumous record sales...

Yeah, I heard that he was just hanging out in a big crib with Jim Morrison and Elvis. Andy Kaufman stops by for dinner sometimes.
