Sci-Fi to become SyFy

I read this a couple of minutes ago, and the first thought that popped into my head, when I saw the logo, was that it's a gay-themed channel. Something about that name seems "gay" to me. Not like "gay" used in a deragatory sense, but just "homosexual-oriented".

So NBCU just laid off about a thousand people, and the first thing they do after that is spend millions to rebrand one of their networks for no reason, to something illegible.

Not to mention, the name Syfy is already taken by a technology company, which means that some lawyers will be needed soon...

Apparently they can't copyright/trademark the phrase "Sci-Fi", so they felt the need to change it to something that will make their channel unrecognizable as a sci-fi channel.

Assholes.
