Section 31 Series Thread

Is Quasi a Founder? If he was one of the 100 sent away and doesn't know where he came from, I guess there's no continuity problem. But if they learn about the Founders during the run of this show, it's just another rape of canon... oh well...

I think he's a chameloid like Iman in ST6.

I've had a thing for Michelle Yeoh since Supercop, so I'm looking forward to this no matter what.

I'll watch it tomorrow so I can write a FULL AND DETAILED REVIEW (or not.)

For the first time I am seriously considering not watching a new star trek film.

It's not as if you have to take the time to go to the theater, get your ticket, get your drink and popcorn, find your seat and spend an hour and a half with a bunch of mouth breathers.
You can sit in your home, in your underwear if you want...

This movie was absolutely horrible. I don’t even have words. The Vulcan guy was so obnoxious.

We just finished watching it. It felt rushed in parts, dragged in others, but overall I enjoyed it. I seriously think this would have worked better as a series, because aside from new touches to Georgiou, there was almost ZERO character development. I'm sure this would have been fleshed out had this been a miniseries. Otherwise, I thought it was a fun spy thriller set in the Star Trek universe, albeit the Kurtzman universe.

Again, I may be biased because I've been a fan of Michelle Yeoh since Supercop.

Why would Section 31 have a Starfleet overseer when the whole point of Section 31 is that they act completely independently of Starfleet? Why is this even a Section 31 story when surely Starfleet itself would want to find and stop the use of a weapon that can blow up a WHOLE QUADRANT (a quarter of the galaxy, mind.) The "movie" makes it seem like Section 31 is just a divison of Starfleet. I never want to see Section 31 (or the mirror universe) again, but if it must be used the writers should at least rewatch the DS9 episodes it first appeared in.

But despite these niggles...I still absolutely hated everything else about it too, sorry.

Starts with a Hunger Games rip-off, into a Mission: Impossible rip-off, then settles on a terrible vague Suicide Squad/Guardians Of The Galaxy...thing.

Every time the Irish Vulcan robot thing (whcih was stolen from a bad episode of Doctor Who which was still eighteen times better than this) I felt physical pain.

I'll admit I got very tired by the end and don't know what the fuck was going on with the doll that was saying "we're all going to die!" while Garrett was saying "chaos, chaos, chaos!" and I don't really want it clarified.

I liked Kacey Rohl in Hannibal so I won't hold this against her.

I wonder how much Jamie Lee Curtis got paid to appear as a hologram with some shit stuck to her face for under a minute. I'm guessing too much.

Literally ends with a "yo mama" joke about the rape planet where Tasha Yar grew up. I don't know what to say.

TrekBBS poll has more 1 votes than anything else...but I do want to know who the 2 people who gave it 10 are...

It's normally the most positive board on the internet!

I've decided I'm not going to waste the bandwidth to steal this thing. The premise isn't my cup of tea anyway and I get the impression it just feels like a really bad fan film.

A few of the really braindead superfans, I'd imagine.

I remember the episode of Picard where Brent Spiner runs over Jean-Luc with an electric car getting 10/10 ratings there, so it's not really surprising.

To my surprise I actually quite enjoyed it. The thing is, I had such low expectations that I wasn’t sure I’d even bother watching it.

I rolled my eyes a lot at the start, but taking it as the campy action film it was, I don’t think it was so bad. I even enjoyed the “whodunnit” bit.

Of course, saying all that, my head canon is this belongs in the same alternate universe as Discovery and anything else where people only have two character traits - snarky and crying.

^You enjoyed it because you are a CHAOS GOBLIN.

It belongs in the dumpster.

I just hope it's popular enough to come to blu-ray, because I want it before it's lost in obscurity. Never did get to see Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies.

Good news! You can buy Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies on dvd. lol

I loved Grease when I was a kid.
