Sense8 (Netflix)

Ooh, nice.

My only worry is that they could get distracted making it too fan servicey and not plotty but fingers crossed.

Yahaha, I can't deide if the V For Vendetta scene was the worst thing to ever happen or the best thing to ever happen.

Also end of episode 5 spoiler (5 including the Christmas special)...

SYLVESTER MCCOY WTF?

Just watching the first episode now. Nice surprise as I'd got used to thinking "wow, new Sense8's AGES away".

I just finished season 2 and overall I'd say I really liked it.

It seems like they've learnt the lessons from season 1 and put more of the focus on the actual characters interacting and helping each other, because that's where this show shines. The actual overriding plot about Whispers and whatever is still kind of dumb and confusing but EVERY SINGLE TIME the group team up to help each other in various situations it's awesome. Every time!

The characters in this show are what makes it and to be honest I kind of wish they'd tie up the main plot and just have it be about 8 friends from around the world who help each other out and sometimes have orgies.

I just finished it, FULL SEASON SPOILERS DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS.

I think it improved on season one as well. In season one there were times when I found it distractingly cheesey whereas this time that didn't bother me as much. Maybe because I've got more used to the world of the show.

The first two episodes of the season were really plot heavy. In a way it was needed because I had lost track of the plot in season one and this clarified things a bit more. But it was kind of jarring. I think it helps to think of the Christmas episode as the first of the season (as that's how it's listed anyway) and that one had a lot of character stuff (and an orgy...I think they put the orgy in the Christmas special just to get it over with since everyone would be expecting it.) It did settle down to more of a balance between character stuff and plot as it went on. I still find it hard to follow what's going on with the plot to be honest AND SERIOUSLY WHY IS SAYID IN THE SHOW I DON'T GET HIS CHARACTER but yeah just having all the characters work together helps make any scene good.

It's really beautifually shot. Like more impressive than most movies. I wonder how they do big crowd scenes like Capheus' speech? It didn't look like a CGI crowd. The editing is amazing too. I guess it'll be another two years before the next season but it's completely understandable with the amount of work that goes in.

I still think the Capheus actor from season one worked better as that character, but he was a homophobe so what can you do really. Wolfgang is by far my least favourite Sensate. Like I know he's supposed to be silent and broody but Sun is the same and yet Doona Bae makes her compelling to watch whereas Wolfgang just bores me. And it's kind of weird how they can have a scene where people talk about the horrors of gun violence than a few minutes later Wolfgang's gunning people down in a restaurant and it's supposed to be cool? All the other charactesr are good though.

Freema Agyeman is lovely and great and beautiful.

It was a bit disappointing that Sylvester McCoy was only in one episode but frankly if they're going to do that "hahaha all Scottish people eat deep fried Mars bars" shite then maybe it's for the best. Between this and that pub scene in Clout Atlas I'm wondering if the Wachowskis learned everyone they know about Scotland from one episode of Rab C. Nesbitt or something.

So yeah good season.

CUNTNOSES.

“After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end,” Netflix VP original content Cindy Holland said in a statement. “It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be..

No, the story clearly isn't coming to an end, as the second season ended on a big (kind of poorly executed) cliffhanger. I'm pretty sure the fans "dreamed" it to have a proper ending so it's not everything they dreamed it to be.

Well it's obviously an expensive show to film compared to many of their projects and I guess it didn't have the viewership of House of Cards or OitNB. Still I think it's dumb to cancel it, though. Especially when it wasn't a finished story at all.

I wonder if they knew it was coming, as the last episode seemed terribly rushed. The sensates physically meeting each other should've been a really big deal, but in all the hurry it was barely acknowledged at all. Not to mention that Capheus couldn't afford his mother's HIV medicine last season and now he's casually buying a plane ticket.

I think they were able to do the crowd scenes at his rally just because extras are a lot cheaper wherever they film.

Having all the Sensates in one place would have surely cut down production costs so that could have been a reason they did that...
