Should I continue the Sandman saga?

I have been thinking. I sort of stopped posting Sandman a while back in the Media Centre, we hardly scratched the surface at all and I have a wish to continue posting but I will not go through the chore of posting the pages up if nobody is going to read them, obviously.

I have a slow connection and uploading them and posting even one issue takes a fair whack of time so I need to know, is anybody interested in reading the issues? I know folks like Kerb Crawler are into it and are experts on the comics allready and I thank him especially for starting the discussion thread and egging me on to continue but we need some new readers to make it worthwhile, people who have never read Sandman before and are curious to read them here at TK.

This was a bit of an experiment, many graphic novels could be posted in kind if this was a hit, of course it really hasn't been at all.

So if you want me to continue and you WANT to read them then please put your name to this thread, if nobody replies or wants nothing to do with it then I will stop, if more than a few people are interested then I will get to work on continuing in order.

Thank Thee.

Menty, this is a poster that's currently hanging in my garage. I've carried it with me since '91/'92. To this day it is one of my favorite pieces of wall art I own.

The artist is Mike Dringenberg, one of the creators of the Sandman. The bottom reads "Family Snap Shot or Still Life With Cats."

You know I'm down.

I've got more to discuss about the 1st trade you started - I just got distracted - and I've purchased the 2nd book, "The Doll's House", and am excited to discover the parts of this series I missed the first time around.

C2, from what I know of you and your interests, I think you will enjoy this series immensely.

The art is beautiful, the writing brilliant, the stories inspiring, the characters ENDLESS.

KC, that poster is just fucking awesome, I admit a tinge of jealousy. I am re-reading Sandman: Vol 9, The Kindly Ones at the moment, it's been a while since I read it and it is one of my favourites in the Sandman books. Too many good characters, everyone from the Corinthian to Rose Walker. Good stuff. And of course you just gotta love Delirium. :D

I will get on posting up another few issues a little later today, time permitting.

Curious, Kurb is right, you are almost certain to get a kick out of Sandman, they are great stories and Gaiman is really a certified genius. I am not a comic book afficondo, I don't claim to know as much about the scene as Bitchslap or Kerb but I know what I like and I like what I know.

I really am interested in getting the absolute formats when they are released, I really must pick them up.

Yay for the Endless.

God, I haven't revisited Sandman since '91.

Yes, please.

Are you going to do the scans enormous again? It might be nice to have the pages readably formatted.

I'm afraid that I have had them saved to my computer for some time. I scanned them ages back and all my Sandmans are in storage so I have been re-reading them on the PC and its not that bad, really. To resize them all would be a serious undertaking coupled with uploading and posting them all with my crappy ISDN connection.

You can hit F11 with IE to get the maximum viewable area on your monitor or you can just save them to your computer and read them that way. Still it may not be ideal to read them with a 15 inch monitor. I have a 19 inch and it's fine

Plus if they are resized it really can be hard to pick some of the lettering up. You need a wheel on your mouse to navigate the pages easily. You get into a groove of zooming and scrolling the pages when they are on your computer. It's not that bad. It's probably better to read them on TK, since they stay there proper size so you can just scroll the pages.

Thats to give you an idea. If you are using IE just hit F11 like I said and it's almost perfect, if you have a half decent sized monitor. There is a button to maximize the screen with Firefox as well but I can't remember what it is, it might be F11 with FF as well.

But what do you think about the page size? It isn't that bad really? Not if you maximize the viewing area with F11.

I have no objections to scrolling, it's what I have to do when I read comics on my PSP, but it has a framer.

No, it's fine scrolling, and the scans are clear and perfect.

I'm going to make a comic formatter for message boards, and sell it to PHP.

Menty, once we get to that point, I will consider posting the pages from "Endless Nights" - 1 short story for each of the Endless. However, the copy I have is hardback and I am concerned about the spine. I'll play with it, see what I can do.
I might just spring for the paperback version, too.

Also, maybe, if we still have the energy and momentum, we could put up the pages for the two 3-issue Death minis (Gaiman/Bachalo/Buckingham) as well.

Just a thought.

If we get there, which I hope we do then that would be a must. I have not read Endless Nights nor the Death minis. This must be rectified.

Ok. Once we get there, I will commit to posting the Death minis, and consider the best way to showcase "Endless Nights." I'm sure something can be figured out.

I know that there was a Destiny mini (Destiny: A Chronicle of Deaths Foretold), but I never got it, and it was not written by Gaiman. I don't know if that would be worth the effort of tracking down.

Well I have decided to definitley continue the series. Considering that we haven't even got to "The Sound of Her Wings" yet we might pick up a few more readers.

Curious have you read what I have allready posted in the Media Centre in the Sticky topics?

I would like a few more people to say they will be having a go at the series. This is a pretty MAJOR chance for people to read a series that costs a small fortune to order in hardback. Of course my wish is if people love the series they will eventually go buy there own copies.

If anyone is still on the fence then you can read this:

http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Zone/9923/sandman.html

If you don't want to read the series after checking that guys opinions out then I don't know what will. And those of you that have read what has been posted allready... WE'RE NOT THERE YET!

Some more names to this thread would be nice.
