Should I continue the Sandman saga?

If we get there, which I hope we do then that would be a must. I have not read Endless Nights nor the Death minis. This must be rectified.

Holy fuck, the first Death (The High Cost Of Living) is just excellent.

Menty, once we get to that point, I will consider posting the pages from "Endless Nights" - 1 short story for each of the Endless. However, the copy I have is hardback and I am concerned about the spine. I'll play with it, see what I can do.
I might just spring for the paperback version, too.

I have to go to Barre anyway, so I'll see if the pamphlet versions or the softcover is in the store. It's just as easy for me to do that too :)

You did?

Well don't expect to be totally into it yet is all I will keep reiterating. It was still finding it's niche at the point we are upto now. The art is about to change and so are the stories and dynamic. It still think's it's a horror fuelled story at this point which has nothing to do with what Sandman turns into.

Issue #8 and beyond are where things heat up.

Gaiman has said himself that Preludes & Nocturnes are a mixed and unfocused bag. Still great stuff but nothing compared to the laters series. A lot of Snadman fans even dissagree starting new readers off with Preludes becuase it perhaps gives the wrong impression, I dissagee I think it's important to start at the beggining.

Just keep going with it we are very almost out of the teething pains. 24 Hours is up next and is perhaps the most horror fuelled episode of the ENTIRE thing. But soon after it (and they are all important to the grand scheme anyway) comes the good stuff.

So keep at it and share your thoughts, please!

^ does it incease the number of views if I read it while not logged in? I finally got organized and read it last week... believe I've got the gist of things now.

- the artwork's amazing in it's evocativeness - if that's a real word. OMG! really powerful - kinda sorry now I just assumed 'graphic novels' were comic books for kids all these years.

I posted another two issues today. I just this minute got through posting 24 Hours. Only two more issues to Sound of Her Wings!

I can't wait to start getting peep's reactions to this series.

I'll pop in and continue my part of the discussion this weekend.

Next issue: A DEATH IN THE FAMILY!

Supplements, teasers, art, and additional information!

To whet the appetite... and give just a tad more info on some of the characters so far - and upcoming.

Had to dig DEEP in the pile to rescue those.

Awesome images, Menty! I don't have that particular publication. I do have a gallery of Death images I'll post at some point. (Maybe around the time I post the Death mini-series.)

That P. Craig Russell image of Desire is gorgeous!

And for those of you not familiar - GET TO KNOW DAVE McKEAN! (He and Gaiman's new (Jim) Henson movie, Mirrormask, looks AWESOME!) Gaiman and McKean have been collaborating about as long as both of them have been working in comics and McKean is the cover artist on the entire Sandman series and produces some of the most beatiful, thought-provoking and iconic art I've ever seen. He is a mixed-media artist and definitely one of my faves.

Shit, I'd be open to a McKean supplemental art thread, too, at some point.

THe next episode to be posted up is FINALLY The Sound of Her Wings, the last and best issue of Preludes & Nocturnes before we start the superior in every way Dolls House

Here is the promo for SOHW:

I will start posting up the next issue very shortly. This thread is turning into the hype machine!

That's where I got hooked, when they revived that old House of Mystery shit with Cain and Abel and wove it into the fabric of the story. I thought that was beyond fucking cool.
