This diplomat asks for a moment of your time.

Karma has returned. We stand at an important crossroads. Nay, we stand at an intersection. Certain posters used karma to bully and irritate others into submission before. When those trampled upon fought back, everyone was outraged.

We have chosen not to take advantage of the window of opportunity available to us to neg everyone who is not DLA. Their lack of karma would ensure our monopoly on positive karma. Remember, we are many.

Some posters also lamented the loss of "being able to leave little comments" in the posts of others. The trend of replying to comments as though they were posts clutters up threads. Sadly, posters have no other recourse but to reply to an irritating comment and contribute to the chaos, and it is clear that the recent additions to the group of administrators here are intent on not letting our beloved Troll Kingdom degrade into the spamming we saw with the short-lived attempt of "pwning" this internet forum.

It is in this diplomat's opinion that Troll Kingdom has no need for gimmicks. This diplomat does not miss Karma Whoring threads, or having to correct his custom title every 2 minutes.

With no karma to fuel vendettas and no 'sniper' comments available disrupting threads, members of TK put more effort into the words they wrote here.

The DLA is well aware that TK is not a democracy. We only wish to know the popular opinion on Karma. We are aware that the administrators put good effort into making the system better, but they did not even attempt to find out if anyone wanted it back.......

Me neither. There is a simple way of avoiding both though. Make it so a limited number of neg/pos karma can be given out in a 24 hour period. Say 10-20 hits every 24 hours. As it stands Karma should be used for terrible/great posts. There is no need to karma everything in site, this is a bad gimmick in every way.

It should be a sparing feature and reserved for those topics that deserve an extra mention. This will also have the knock on effect of making karma a more important feature. It may actually MEAN something to get a pos hit for something one says.
 
I agree with Mentalist, comments were worth something when they were few and far between.

As for Karma, I wasn't around long enough to understand what use it was and how you could potentially tear someone's soul by negging them enough.
 
When I first got here, I thought it was for either agreeing or disagreeing with someones post-didn't know it was negging someone-or that it was considered "bad"
But I still think it was fun, and a limit might be nice so as not to go overboard.
And aren't the first and the last option the same?

How about restricting it to the former Spam-Free Zone?
 
Restricting it to certain forums would not alleviate that pesky problem of "self-control" or lack therof that led to the original problem. Unless it becomes an issue, I honestly don't care if its back or not. However, at the first sign that VKD or one of his cronies is yet again abusing the system as some sort of organized sustained cyber-terroristic attack, I will abuse the system so badly, it will have to be scrapped completely from the board within days.

Otherwise, everything should be fine for now. :D

I suggested it because restricting it to forums where only intellectual discourse is allowed would help to fulfill what I assume to be its purpose -- rewarding good post(ers), and negging bad ones. By restricting it to no-spam forums, karma whoring and stockpiling would be severely impeded.

However, at the first sign that VKD or one of his cronies is yet again abusing the system as some sort of organized sustained cyber-terroristic attack, I will abuse the system so badly, it will have to be scrapped completely from the board within days.

We have a larger voter turnout than the usual poll. I would like to take this opportunity to mention that the DLA has not asked that its soldiers influence this critical referendum.

I am happy.

If you are really keeping count, then that was actually the third time I made that promise. The fight was picked when you and your juvenile associates decided to start abusing the system. I don't pick fights, I say what I need to, then I move on, usualy from lack of caring. As for any duals I have, just remember that I have them, and know what to do with them when the time arises. Stay the fuck out of my way, don't mess with my friends, and we should have no problems or even a need to even cross each others paths again.
