Words You Must Use More Often In Conversation.
#5702536 - 04/03/2006 09:24 Edit Reply Quote Quick Reply

Words or phrases... you get my drift.

For me, it's "I take umbrage". It sounds neat and is bound to confound.

Also, off the top of my head:

Introspection

Verisimilitude

Opine

Pernicious

Loquacious

Well, that's me. You?

In addition, I'm also curious to know how eloquent you are IRL. Do you get by on the basics, or are one who engages in the art of word-smithing?

I've been known to be very eloquent IRL... or at least unnecessarily verbose. In any case, I can't come up with a shining example of it now

I have to work "not unlike" into my conversations more. IT's something stodgy academics always say.

Well, this year's drought is not unlike the one the south experienced in 1974.

I would say I survive on the basics:

If something good happens - "That's why I'm the Captain" - (yes I know).

My more normal words include:
Indeed
Close of play
Fair enough

and others that I couldn't possibly say here!

I want to use "supercilious" but I can never quite remember what it means, exactly.
