Sadly, this is one of the few times where Moore hits the issue head on, even if it's distorted to fit his views. The American health system is a fucking mess, and the health-care reforms going through the legislature are... lacking.

My wallet shouldn't be raped to the point where I'm put permanently in debt just for a trip to the hospital, or worse, to the doctor. Related, the costs for college are disturbing. I'm $21k in the hole for the last year and a half of school. I paid out of pocket to that point, but working and going to school didn't make it that far. And that's a public, state university.

In order to have a chance succeed and get a chance to get a good job, I need to go to school. To go to school, I need to pay an arm and a leg. I got my degree, but I can't even get a job in my field: Geography. Part of it is certainly the economy, but there is an inherent ridiculousness here when there are jobs outside of this country, but I can't apply because I've no means of even getting there; and in those countries (like Norway), the State pays for tuition.

America, land of the great. Yeah.

It is so simple I cannot believe you are too stupid to see it. If the medical insurers actually 'covered' people, rather than seeking excuses not to do so, the system might actually work. BUT, the State needs to intervene, as they have here in Ontario. Seems auto insurance premiums, enacted by PRIVATE insurers, were getting out of hand. So, what does the Ontario government do? They threaten the insurance CORPORATIONS with dissolution of their fucking industry by telling them that perhaps a provincially-run insurance industry might be the thing to do. My own premiums dropped radically. There can be no further proof that fascism works, and what the Ontario government did was clearly fascism. The corporations were pissed, but too bad, especially when, as they were raising premiums, their profits were reaching record levels. The Ontario government reminded the corporations of this little fact. They were told, 'lower the premiums, or die'. You surely can do the same thing with the healthcare corporations. It is your own government corruption that has bled your country dry. Remember, not only even in a democracy, but ESPECIALLY in a democracy, the government exists TO PROTECT THE PEOPLE.
