Skipped work, fucked around all day

I will download it tomorrow, promise!

niiiice, SBV!
lol - your route= "rowt" not "root"!
[zomg remnant of BRITISH DOMINATION?!]

how many love songs will you have to record for the project?

It's kinda weird. Two of my really-good buds want to play a triple-show at a church, so the church wants to screen 45 minutes worth of songs.

I generally write songs about:

1. undermining / questioning christianity
2. outlaw life (robbing / stealing / killing/ dealing drugs)
3. love songs, usually sad ones

So... Since this church is on-edge I'm having to dig up all my old, crappy love songs and record them so I can play them in a crappy set. Mostly doing it for my boys, but what the heck. So it's not that they all have to be love songs, but they all have to be church-friendly, which in my case is mostly love songs and not even the good ones with racy lyrics. UGH!

But I shall post them, why BECAUSE I ARE A ATT3ENTION HOARE!

I say route "rowt" and root root.

I say "root 66" but rowt all the other times. that's just the way it is.

This is an older recording but I was sending it to a buddy of mine.

That's probably my best song, or maybe this one is:

Sweet Arlene

Either way, these are kinda-bad recordings of pretty-good songs. In particular, I play "run off" a couple keys higher nowadays so the vocals work better for me. These are the songs I'm trying to go into the studio and work up a lot better.

lol - Washington really sucks - SWEET guitar riff on Run Off.

Sweet Arlene - nice combo of guitar, harmonica & vocals on this one

This is the one I've been working on for the last week or so. I think it'll eventually have a harmonica over it, or maybe a rockabilly electric guitar line. I like the way I'm writing songs that I sing a little lower, lately. I am more pitchy but vulnerable-sounding when I sing lower.

Greater Height

btw i like the font on 'curious' in your av
-Menty did this av for me a few years ago. Still love it & like bringing it out again every so often. I guess I should nag one of the puter graphics whizzes here & get a *"summer" one.

*snort. whatevah that is

oooh - teh chicks lurve that! :D

Oooh! Was that you with the harmonica?! I love that one! And the others! :)

Sweetest Mirah, yep everything you hear is me.

Incidentally, I put up a bunch of my songs on a music sharing website called soundclick, and emailed all my friends about it.

So then they pushed one of the older songs from this thread up to number 25 on the charts for that website, it's the one about Saved by the Bell that has the synth line and superfake drums. Clicking here will stream that song, and bump it in the charts, w00t! So anyway, I thought that was really cool.

Just for context, this is how those stats fit in context:

Even Stupid sh*** Makes Me Cry

# 133 in Country (highest position was 133). Total songs: 36,747
# 25 in Alternative Country (highest position was 25). Total songs: 5,346

Honestly, that's probably the most encouraging thing to happen to me in a year. I know it's just because people are my friend and doesn't really reflect the relative merit of the song, but it's still sweet to know that my friends would care enough to actually take a listen, you know?

By the way, the link above effectively "outs" me. My real name is Matt Lyons, and you can see my pics and stuff here:

http://www.myspace.com/mattlyonsband

and download all my songs for free here:

http://www.soundclick.com/mattlyonsband

Again, all my stuff is free right now because it's not very well produced or anything. I may try to sell stuff someday if I actually go into a studio and need to recoup money from that but I don't really see that happening any time soon. All I really want to do is keep on writing and playing shows and making friends.

highest in sub-genre: # 18 (5,350 songs currently listed in Country > Alternative Country)

Whoo!

I'll download stuff and listen with my ears.

Been pretty busy with work and music, here are some vids my buddy just put on youtube. BTW I just remembered the other day... The thing that got me back into playing music a couple years ago was Shatna telling me about where to find cool musicians in this area... Weird how life goes.

I really miss you m.f.ers especially thing of the day +rape

I can see why you've been neglecting us - wow!!!
Thank you for sharing your music, Matt.
ZANG. You know what I think of Arlene and Fragile man -And I love that guitar riff too !!

btw, Shatna has always been generous with his knowledge of music/musicians; not surprised he'd help ya, he loves music and supports others in their musical endeavours, as well as being mighty talented in his own right.

Where did Shatna go? I know he had some kind of falling out over here, but I didn't expect him to really disappear for this long, this completely unless I'm missing something.

(And thanks cAtZ, you are very kind.)

SBV, you are most welcome!

he has washed his hands of TK, and I can't blame him.

...but he's around. PM me if you want details - he ain't hiding, he's keeping busy with several musical/animated projects on line. :)

OMG OMG OMG.
