So I'm wondering...

Eggs Mayonnaise

All In With The Nuts
...when the film version of Hichhiker's Guide to the Galaxy came out, I don't remember much hoo-hah made of it, either positive or negative. I would think this would have been like a pilgrimage for a lot of fans, but I don't recall the movie making much of an impression good or bad.

What gives? (It's on TV now so I just thought of it)

I haven't seen it yet.

(I didn't like the books... I know blasphemy!)

I thought the books rocked, but the movie was a bit disappointing. The lure of the story was how it was written. It kick-started your imagination to fill in the gaps in the story, design the settings, etc. The movie sort of took all of that away.

Off topic, but in the realm of re-makes.

I signed back on for Netflix, and I got 13 Ghosts (the 60's version) and just got done watching it. Hehehehe...it was better than the remake, which says plenty considering the horrible special effects, and the orgasmic moaning of the ghosts in this version, as opposed to Tony Shaloub's awful acting and Shannon Elizabeth's nipples.

Is the netflix deal any good? We're doing the blockbuster thing which is pretty much the same thing. Seems like they send us more movies than we can watch though.

Well, the main reason I got hooked on Netflix is because I can get movies from them that are hard to find, such as the old grindhouse movies, pinky fighting, stuff like that. You know...nearly snuff, but just not quite. ;)

I have a feeling I'll be one of the few gals seeing Grindhouse this weekend.

REMEMBER NOT TO LEAVE DURING INTERMISSION::
Apparently Rob Zombie and Eli Roth have made two make believe trailers to be shown during the intermission, along the same lines as Grindhouse.

Grindhouse will be awesome from what I've seen. Didn't know about the Rob Zombie (man I miss him, I need to find my Astrocreep cd), good tip.

I don't like scary movies

Here's my deal. I like scary movies that are cheesy, like grindhouse movies. But the tremor-effect movies that actually send you into convulsions? Nada. Not for me.

I like scary movies that have an interesting story. My favorites are Hellraiser, Fantasm, and A Nightmare on Elm Street. NOT the sequels though. I dont like the blood and guts movies if there's no good reason for all the blood and guts. I'll never see The Texas Chainsaw Massacre or movies like that, cause I'm a wimp.

I do love to read horror, though. I guess that's kind of weird.

I dunno, that seems reasonable. At least when you read a book, you can control how gruesome it becomes in your imagination.

Sorry, we derailed.

OMG OFF WITH OUR HEADS!!!

I have it on DVD and it's worth watching, some good special effects and decent acting and Zooey Deschanel is cute (not a factor for you I KNWO) but I remember I only laughed out loud like once or twice and that was at Marvin, so it's definitely not up to the funniness of the books.

Watch the movie with the actor/director commentary. It's hysterical when they start talking about Mos Def. :)

I liked the Guide's film version - it had it's moments, and you could tell that they wanted to do as much justice to the books as possible... only problem with that is you have several decades of people's imaginations to compete with - they just can't come close to the versions we all have in our heads.

Stephen Fry as the voice of the Guide was good, I just remembered.

That bit I though they did right, the look of the guide - that was fun. I wish they had the actors from the radio series do somethin', tho, those froods were hot on the ticket, IMHO.

The guy who played Arthur in the tv series had a cameo and I think he did the voice in the radio too though I could be INSANE.
