We know that one set of friends will be evicted, but will we all vote on them all with no nominations, or will they let them do the nominations as usual, then announce that the two or more people with the most nominations will be taking their freinds with them to the public vote?

I think the latter

The gang will get quite the shock if they nominate Richard and Pete is up too, theres no way the public will evict Pete so Richard is safe for another week

They nominate in pairs. So Richard and Pete will be in there nominating together, for example. But they can nominate anyone. Then the people with the most votes and their partners will face the vote. I think.
