i just thought that nihilists are right in their thinking -
 
they think that when something good happens to you, you start receiving good things not that good, and bad things - worse
 
like if you are really poor, you'd really enjoy somethink you could buy with 4$
 
but if you're really rich - then you won't
 
also if you're really poor you don't have much to lose
 
so if something bad happens to you, you won't take it so bad
 
and after all, no matter what you do
 
even if you abandon everything you have and just go out on the streets
 
you then won't have much to lose so you'll still be as happy as before
 
however, what was i missing is that
 
while it's a really beautiful idea, it's also not proven
 
and indeed, the good and the bad caused by this effect doesn't balance themselves (i thought they do, even though i didn't have any real proof)
 
what if you have a really good experience, then get hit in the head and forget about it?
 
then have that experience again, and get hit in the head again, etc.
 
but anyway, even if we don't consider amnesia, the theory was really wrong
