Spider-Man: Homecoming

Is there some rule that Spider-Man movies must have a ridiculous number of trailers? Remember Amazing Spider-Man 2 literaly (literally literally) showed the whole movie in trailers?

(The international trailer is better but the other has Donald Glover in it.)

My movie nerd friend says it's the best Spidey film by far, and that people should NOT give away plot spoilers, and that you should stay for the very end of the credits.

I liked the scene where Aunt May got topless and jiggled around for about 5 minutes.

Granted, that scene only happened in my imagination, but I liked it anyway.

I saw it today. It was good! I liked it! Saying it's "the best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2" probably doesn't give it credit for how well done it was (but also it's true.) It has the Spider-Man feel but it's very much a part of the MCU. While the Raimi films felt like classic Spider-Man stories on screen this felt like classic Spider-Man stories updated for 2017. They really left out a lot of the stuff you'd expect from a Spider-Man movie: no origin story, no mention of Uncle Ben, no montage of him designing his suit...and that's all fine! We've seen all those things before. We don't have to hear him say "with great power comes great responsibility" when we know it's in his head anyway when he's walking out on the dance to stop the Vulture getting away.

Michael Keaton was great and definitely in the top tier Marvel villains. I liked that he was just kind of a regular guy (but a criminal) who ddidn't want to actually do evil shit (apart from selling weapons, which is pretty evil to be fair) until the end, and that he seemed to have had character development in the mid credits scene.

Tony Stark was used well and didn't take over the movie (maybe a bit too much Happy Hogan though.) The story was good but maybe got a bit muddled in the end since the message seemed to end up being "don't believe Tony Stark when he tells you to stop being a super hero." GOOD PEPPER POTTS CAMEO, I'M HAPPY GWYNETH IS HOME (I guess they got back together between Civil War and this.)

Donald Glover was good in his short appearance. I was susprised "MJ" didn't really do much other than be sarcastic. Love interest looked way too old for high school (the actress is 27 so that's probably why.)

The "8 years later" thing seems to be a hug continuity error but maybe Thanos fucks with the timeline in Infinity War.

Aunt May still hot.

I enjoyed it. I liked the risks, and directions they took with the MCU version. I liked the cameos from other Spiderman villains, laying some groundwork for some possible future antagonists. I thought it had just enough Tony Stark in it as well. I thought it was as good as any of the previous Spider movies. (I liked them all, except for 3, and the amazing sequel was kinda meh.) But the best part had to be
getting trolled by Captain America in the post credits scene.
