Star Trek (spoilers for film) review

Cassie sneak over to the next town and see it ONE MORE TIME on the BIG screen!
DOITDOITDOITDOIT!

I may go see it at the drive in.

Scotty raped Lieutenant Rand.

Just sayin'.

OK, Gonad, I'm up to two viewings, and I have to plan a way to see it one more time without anyone finding out --- lest they think I'm obsessed. ;)

(YES< IT'S THAT GOOD MOFOS WHO HAVENT SEEN IT YET)

caught two things I'd missed the 1st time through.

Young Spock muttering "fascinating" when he's in Old Spock's spaceship, and Scotty explaining about Professor Archer's beagle

You know what they DIDN'T have in this move; McCoy vs Transporter. I'm glad they saved such a goody for the sequel!

Ok this is the thread that I am going to do my review of Star Trek.

I saw Star Trek!

Am I supposed to still use spoiler tags? I don't think anything I can say can spoil it.

Ok this is the thread that I am going to do my review of Star Trek.

I saw Star Trek!

Last Saturday I went to lunch with my sister, her husband and his daughter who would fit right in here. She is I am not sure a fan, but she sure does know alot about the series and said things like "The Romulans were not even around then" And something about but maybe the time and date is messed up and future transporter etc etc-I HAVE NO IDEA! I could be wrong about what she said-don't quote me.

What I do know: Is that I enjoyed the movie thouroughly and want to see it again. For me it was about nostalgia. We used to watch it as a family. Whatever night it was on back then, it was just something we watched.
There was a time when families ate dinner together at the table and talked about thier day and then did a family activity and maybe watched television. That was us.
So it was quite fitting to be watching it with my sister.

Now about the movie: I did not enjoy the first 15 minutes or 20 minutes. I don't know why but talking to someone we figured out that it wasn't until they got to the ship that I really enjoyed it because that is when the nostalgia hit. With the introduction of each character I was amazed-thouroughly amazed at how well they did.
The only one I had a little bit of an issue with was Zachery as Spock. I kept seeing Sylar from Heroes. Sometimes I would only see Spock tho-so that was good, but many times I saw Sylar and that was a little odd to me.
I probably can't comment on too much more just becuase I am not a huge fan or anything and I can't remember and I want to see it again.
But I loved the action, I loved watching in the theater.

Before we left, my sister was having alergies and she took tissues with her and I joked that it wasn't a tear jerker, but then surpringly so-there were several scenes that made me tear up.
The begining Scene. Seeing Spock in the future. And probably another scene somewhere LOL.

Ok I've made enough of an idiot out of myself, I will say this tho-whenever I watch Star Trek I always enjoyed the (TOS). I didn't get into very many of the new series. Watching this movie made me want to go back and watch episodes, seasons w/e, that would be cool.

Lots of attractive guys in this movie.

I don't think it's silly to get a bit tearful in the movie. I didn't go that far, but I did feel a bit emotional when Spock's mum died and again when Sarek said that he married Amanda because he loved her. Aaaawwwwwwww. :')

Cassie, I found the warp jump gave me a jolt too, but I liked that. Kinda like a sonic boom (yeah, I know it's in space, but...). The sound design was really good in this movie. A nice mix of sound effects from TOS with modifications and new stuff. Didn't like the new phaser sound, though.

I think the best use of sound was when the woman was sucked out into space near the start

I thought so too, except after that they switched back to sound in space, except in the parachuting scene where the sound only kicked in when they reached the atmosphere (again, very effective).

I saw it last Saturday.

It was pretty dece.

I teared up at the beginning when George died, and then a little bit when Spock's mom died, and then AGAIN when Sarek told Spock he loved his mother.

I cried when Nero died. He was so misunderstood!

He won in the end. He wanted Spock to feel his pain and he did. Twice over.

I forgot to comment on Spock and his chick, LOL that sort of wierded me out to. I don't recall him ever having anything like that in the show-am I wrong?
Of course knowing me-I wanted more-I'm like, "Yeah let them bang each other!"
But all we got were a couple of kisses. Kirk's reaction-that just seemed all akward, but it more reminded me of something I would see in a Clint Eastwood movie.

Is just me or did anyone else want Uhura and her roommate to bang each other?

Maybe that is the plot behind Trek XXXII

I felt bad when Uhuru's roomie was smiling and waving as her shuttle pulled away
Orion Slave Girl=Doomed!

SHE MIGHT HAVE SURVIVED
