STAR TREK style "Smallville". Could it work?

I don't & have never watched "Smallville". I'm utterly neutral towards it. It's Smallville, Iowa yes? I know some basics about "Smallville".

Anyway, could a Trek version of Smallville work? Sub Clark Kent with Jim Kirk, Lana with Ruth & Lex Luthor with Harry Mudd.

Keep in mind, I'm not sold on this idea & I came up with it.

Is this real life?
Smallville sucks. Most of that's due to the unadventurous, formulaic and overly moralising writing, but it'd probably suck to a certain extent in any case. We know how all the characters threads are supposed to end, but because it's "Superman: The Early Years", they never get there. They just stay evergreen. Emphasis on the green.

It could work if they made sure to have a scene in Enterprise's decon room at least once per episode.

(The pretty people in the show are literally the only thing Smallville has going for it)

Who plays Kirk on "Iowa"? Ruth? Harry Mudd?

This show would be the coolest. It'd be a smash! Be the most from coast to coast.

If push comes to shove, "Iowa" could exist in it's own isolated pocket canonuity like Abrams' STAR TREK.
