Star Wars: Visions

But will you watch dubbed or subtitles?

I watched the first episode, I enjoyed it. I liked that the Sith lady wore high heels. I watched with subtitles for the more authentic experience (but I guess I'd watch the English dub if someone told me it's good for specific episodes?)

Does it get any better?

Don't really know how to answer that as I liked the first episode (really good lightsaber fight) and you didn't. The strength of it is that every episode is done in a different style and tells a completely different story. It's nice and imaginative. I've only watched the first five though.

Episode 2 - The animation style was not really my taste. I did like that it featured the podrace arena and the absurdity of Jabba and Boba getting down to the music.

Episode 3 - I mean, I appreciate that it had a giant lightsaber flown on an x-wing cutting through a star destroyer, but I didn't connect at all with the characters or story. I feel like maybe something was lost in the translation.

Episode 4 - I liked it, real good world-building in a short runtime. And battle droids speaking Japanese.

Episode 5 - Definitely my favourite of the five I've watched, felt like a complete mini movie. Would watch a whole series like this, really! Old Droid is my new favourite Star Wars character.

Episode 6 - It was cute.

Episode 7 - I found it pretty damn dull, with most of it just two characters talking in front of static backgrounds. A lightsaber fight eventually, but others had better ones.

Episode 8 - I liked it but it felt incomplete. Ended really abruptly.

Episode 9 - I was pretty burned out on Jedi/Sith stuff by this point. If they do a season two I hope all the studios talk to each other and agree that not every story needs a Jedi/Sith conflict. Good sad ending though.

Also watched LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales which is a different thing! 45 minutes is probably too long for a LEGO Star Wars episode, but it was cute enough. It had Watto, Maul and Grievous (tickling Maul!) so I have to appreciate that. It was interesting that the Knights of Ren story could just about fit in canon? Don't watch if you don't think LEGO Star Wars should last 45 minutes.

Watched season two a while ago, forgot to post.

Sith - It was cool. It looked like a painting (obviously), the fight was good and I liked the little droid with the gun.

Screecher's Reach - Very cool, loved the twist that the "ghost" was a crazy Sith apprentice and the kid ended up replacing her.

In The Stars - I don't remember much about this one at all. It was probably fine?

I Am Your Mother - Sweet and fun. Wish it had been longer so we could have seen more Star Wars aliens done Aardman style, but I guess they call them "shorts" for a reason.

Journey To The Dark Head - One of those episodes that feels like you're joining the story part way through - but the original Star Wars movie was like that so it was probably on purpose. I still don't really get what the big heads were and the Jedi was a bit whiney but it looked good.

The Spy Dancer - Very good.

The Bandits of Golak - Indian Star Wars. It was okay.

The Pit - Kind of weird. I liked it fine but maybe lacking in memorable characters? Showed how evil the Empire is and sometimes it's good to be reminded. The "she has force powers!" ending felt tacked on.

Aau's Song - Lightest on story but very cute animation. Ending is similar to The Bandits of Golak with a forece sensitive kid leaving their protector to be a Jedi so that kind of hurts it.

I enjoyed the season; it felt like there was a bit more variety to the stories told (possibly because it featured animation studios from all over the world and not just Japan.) I'd still like them to do more stories that don't feature the Jedi/Sith/Force powers at all, but I guess if you ask an animation studio to do a Star Wars story the first thing they're going to think is "LIGHTSABERS!"

Didn't realize season 2 was out. I'll have to watch it someday.

I wonder what STARWARSFAN48 thought of it.

As usual I don't know anything about anime, really, so might not "get" that some of the animation is SECRETLY GOOD if I know about anime or that that one character being annoying as fuck is like that ON PURPOSE because anime.

3.1 - I was a bit lost at first as I didn't realise this was a sequel to the very first episode of season 1. But it starts with two (not completely evil) Sith having a duel in a gambling den built inside two AT-ATs, then a revenge-crazed Jedi arrives and it gets pretty spectacular. Then the EWOKS show up and it gets even more awesome. Great visuals and fight scene, a must watch.

3.2 - This felt very stereotypical anime to my unsophisticated eyes. In that I didn't like it much at all...up until the part where the main character's droid turned into an X-Wing Iron Man suit for her and she flew around a bit. That almost justified its existence.

3.3 - A sequel to The Ninth Jedi (which is also getting a spin-off series) from season one. Sadly not as good as that episode as it felt a bit drawn out and the fight at the end wasn't long enough. Still quite good though.

3.4 - Pretty standard story about some bounty hunters turning against their employer to rescue children. Not much to say.

3.5 - I hated this one. Some annoying kids being annoying on Tatooine. Felt much long than its runtime. Only good part was the droid/bear thing? Nah, I didn't like it.

3.6 - Another pretty standard story, like just redoing bits of Star Wars in anime, but I liked how scary the Stardestroyer was.

3.7 - This one felt a bit more involved, like the setting and characters felt like they existed to be more than just this one episode. So I'd recommend it.

3.8 - A Padawan is blinded and has to battle the dark side in her mind. Looks nice but didn't grab me.

3.9 - Okay, I'm not entirely sure what's even happening here: I think it's a Stormtrooper dying during the Battle of Endor and having flashbacks to his life...while also dueling with another version of himself in his mind? But it looks absolutely amazing and should be watched for that reason.

So yeah, the first and the last were the best episodes, watch them and episodes 3 and 7 if you want.

I don't think my friend and I ever finished the first season. And he was a hardcore Star Wars fan too.

Nice. I didn't know season 3 was out. Usually there is a separate thread alerting me to it. I'll try to watch some episodes tomorrow.

I had Star Wars Visions when I watched Rogue One after boofing half a bottle of THC oil.

On Reddit someone was complaining their star wars fan film had it's choreography lifted wholesale into one of the visions episodes.

A little naughty, but it is their IP.
