Bought a new pc today, fired the thing up, nothing happens, then I see a note saying read this first.

"This product may display a blank screen for anything from ten minutes up to an hour from the first time you turn it on"

Looks like its more likely to be the hour.

Whatever happened to new computers that just came on straight away?

IT'S A CONSPIRACY!!!

In the mean time I'm jealous of your shiny new blank computer screen.

I'm sure you could acheive much the same effect by simply turning your pc off.

The thing has had twice as much time now as the longest its supposed to take, makes me wonder if the damn thing is faulty.

This one I got last month went on right away...why would it take an hour to "warm up"? Are you sure there's not a bomb in it or something?

I think its meant to be installing all the stuff it needs to run, before it actually lets you on it, but since its ran for two hours without doing jack shit, and the only review of the same make I have seen online said they couldnt get theirs to work either, isnt filling me will a lot of hope.

I recon this thing could be going back to comet tommorow.

Seems after spending 3 hours watching a blank screen because my monitor lead was plugged into the monitor socket, seems I should have used the adaptor to plug it into a rectangular socket with what looks like a waffle shapped holes inside.

Computer is getting set up now, so still on the laptop for this.

Glad I found this out before dragging the family out in the wind and the rain and taking the thing back to the shop

REMEMBER TO PRESS THE "ON" BUTTON LOL

lol.. that'll learn you.

Still it gets better, despite being assured in teh shop this pc has a wireless conection already installed, it doesnt.

So I either have to strip out the card from my old one, or shell out for a new card, either way looks like I'll be opening up the case on the new pc less than 24 hours after buying it

huh?

Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair, Rich. It's a way IT guys have of rubbishing the end user in a quasi-humourous fashion.

OMG Toxicdistortion is an IT guy?!!! I should have known! lol

my problem exists with the staff at comet

Maybe if IT guys weren't so UPPITY we wouldn't be so thick!

Yeah! uppity bastards.

THINK THEY'RE TOO GOOD FOR US JUST BECAUSE THEY KNOW HOW STUFF WORKS

I THINK WE SHOULD HUNT THE DOWN AND EXTERMINATE THEM.

Then what we do when we want to annoy someone so we phone up a help desk and pretend we've got no idea that a CD drive isn't a cupholder, eh?
